We can use a different word each day of the year to highlight changes in a relationship, outline its contours, test its strength or stress the flaws in connectivity. Naming relationships can be part of the fun or a difficult responsibility.
Is it really more important to build bridges and not put boundaries?
Or maybe let's put up boundaries, but remember to build doors?
Doors give us control, but they also signal to the outside world that we are open. That in addition to the wall, there are also gates.
How often will the gate be open?
New connections
As I have mentioned in my previous posts - I highly value the relationship, menor student. Personally, I think it's a much more complex relationship than the cold, purely academic one - professor-student.
Although I have spent a lot of time at work coaching new employees, I have never thought of myself in terms of a mentor. I don't like the word coach because, through the overuse of the term by 'experts in everything', it has become empty word for me.
Let's put semantics aside. This month as part of a challenge orgnized by #DreemPort and @dreemsteem we worked with new #hive blockchain users. We supported them with a good word, got them into the fun on our discord channel, as well as inviting them to work with DreemPort.
At the very beginning I asked @dreemsteem if she was considering me as a 'newbie' or already a 'full-fledged' user. She replied that I was basically still a newbie, but no longer a 'baby-newbie' :D
And that's how I feel too. I'm not completely green, but there's still a lot of stuff about the platform that I need to learn.
You take out as much as you put in
This week we tried to help the real 'baby-newbies', accounts that are very fresh and definitely green:) This time it was us - not so new anymore, but not yet seniors - who tried our hand at mentoring. What's more - newcomers will be able to participate with us in a 'Treasure Hunt' on discord. This is not the first such game, and I hope that this month - it will not be the last:)
I myself have been embraced by the spreading wings of the Dreemers, and have tried to transfer what I have learned into more willing hands. Time will tell if I succeeded:)
Aghrrrrr!
I like the version of Treasure Hunt we have now - one slightly larger prize, lots of tiny prizes and the rest of the 'digs' empty. Everyone this way has a better chance(mathematically speaking) of digging up some treasure, even if small. Besides, the promise of a slightly 'bigger' prize raises excitement but does not generate envy between participants - at least I think so. For me, the most important part of this game is the fact that, despite the different time zones, we all get together at the 'same' time to have fun:)
For my part, as a variety to this already exciting event - I was thinking of introducing a small game before the 'treasure dig', a kind of 'trivia evening'. With questions from different areas, a few seconds for the answer (to give no time for cheating of course), preferably with questions with answers to choose from. Participants who answer well - get an extra 'dig' :)
About drawing
It is my old work. Has been made around 2014- 15. Originally it meant to be a self-portrait, but after a few lines to represent my face - I covered it with a red permanent marker and threw the sketchbook into a corner. That same day, in the evening, I looked at the drawing again, and started outlining the red spot with a thin black pen. And so from line to string, from string to shape - something appeared after all.
Today I used photoshop to mirror the photo of the drawing and I saw the gate in front of me.
And you, what do you see?
Happy Friday Eve Hivers!
Yours,
Strega Azure
I used red permanent marker, black ink-pen, 003 if I remember correctly
