Envy and hatred are like poison. You might think you are aiming them at someone else, but in the end, they destroy you from the inside. They take up space in your mind, drain your energy, and keep you stuck in a cycle of negativity.
When you envy someone, you focus on what they have and what you don’t. You compare your life to theirs, forgetting that you don’t see the full picture. You don’t know their struggles, their sacrifices, or the battles they fight behind closed doors. But instead of working on yourself, you let their success make you bitter. That bitterness doesn’t help you grow. It only makes you frustrated, resentful, and distracted from your own goals.
Hatred works the same way. When you hold onto anger toward someone, it doesn’t hurt them as much as it hurts you. It fills your mind with negative thoughts, keeps you from moving forward, and stops you from focusing on what actually matters. You spend time replaying past events, wishing for revenge, or hoping they fail. Meanwhile, they are living their life, unaware or unaffected by your emotions.
The truth is, life isn’t fair. Some people will have more than you. Some will succeed faster. Some won’t deserve what they get. But wasting your energy on envy and hatred won’t change that. What will change your life is shifting your focus.
Instead of envying others, learn from them. Instead of hating someone, move on. Use that energy to improve yourself, to work harder, and to build a life you don’t need to compare to anyone else’s.
At the end of the day, you are the one who chooses what stays in your mind. If you fill it with envy and hatred, it will eat you alive. If you fill it with growth and purpose, you will move forward, no matter what life throws at you.
