What do you see?
I see a brown furry cat sitting down on a snow white chair with a snow white cushion besides it. A red moufla is wrapped around its neck area and the cat looks on eagerly.
What do you feel?
I feel like the cat is in a comfortable place where it is very well taken care of. It knows it's role of being a companion and friend to its owner and so it is poised to help in anyway.
Sharon sat on a rocking chair outside her balcony, staring at the orange hued sky. The sun was setting gracefully, leaving streaks of orange and red in its wake. She sighed, thinking about how her day passed by.
She has lived alone now for the past five years once her husband's demise. This was their home and they shared a lot of good memories here. The happy memories were what kept her going but recently, she was becoming bored.
"How nice it would be to have another living being here with me that I can talk to" .....she thought to herself.
After a few more minutes of gazing onto the sky, she stood up and walked haphazardly into her house. She wasn't in the mood for any dinner. She marched up to her bedroom, had a quick shower and got ready for bed.
"Tomorrow is At Valentine's day. I wonder if they'll come around this time?" She speculated put loud.
That was because her only son and his family lived on the neighbouring town and his work schedule was packed full. When their daughter was born two years ago, that was the last time she had seen them in the flesh. But Sharon never minded their busyness as she was an independent woman.
She only hoped to see them occassionally Espeon during the holidays or festive seasons. Her husband had always been keen on family gatherings during festive periods and she wanted to keep the tradition alive but she knew that times had changed and everyone now had there own thing going. Nevertheless, she hoped for the best.
She went off to sleep and as if a fairy heard her her heart's desire and transported it to the heavens, Sharon got a good surprise on Valentine's day.
She woke up to a text from her son who told her that he and his family were on their way. Scrambling from the bed in a rush, she dived down to the kitchen to begin preparing some lasagna, Mac and cheese and some oven baked chicken.
At exactly 11am, Sharon's doorbell rang and she hurriedly left t open the door. Doing so, she found herself staring at the three lovely faces of her son, his wife and their two plus year old daughter.
Sharon's smile was so broad it could rival the glow of the sun. She hugged each one of them as she welcomed them in and led them straight to the dining room to catch up on a lost family tradition and on each other's lives.
They laughed heartily as each one tried to out do the other in cracking jokes. For the first time in five years, Sharon felt the warmth of companionship again and it made her heart glad.
"Grandma, grandma, mommy and daddy brought you a gift. It's a surprise!" came the little cute voice of her granddaughter.
"I want to see the surprise dear" Sharon responded with eagerness. Her son then bent down to pick up a large bag and handed it over to Sharon.
Sharon gleefully looked inside and to her delight, she saw a brown furred cat with a red moufla wrapped around its neck. Sha gasped for joy as she lifted he new furry friend out of the bag and placed it on her thighs.
*She thanked her son and his wife for the gift and they all wished each other "a happy Valentine's day".
She knew that she would not be lonely anymore as she now had a life companion to talk to and keep busy. Sharon's heart was swelling with Joy 😁.
