With an increase road accidents over the years and on top of that, the number of fatalities due to the road accidents also increased, the government had no choice but deploy speed control measures all across the city. The transport ministry alongside the traffic police had multiple discussion and road monitoring.
After 2 months of work and study, a total of 24 location have been identified to setup speed traps to ensure cars adhere to a specific speed limit and not speed in these high volume roads. While some young drivers bemoans such a setup which prevents them from speeding, the statistics of road accident reduction over the next 3 months showed how effective the deployment of these speed traps were.
With the successful reduction of traffic accidents, the ministry continue surveying the ground and time to time deploy new speed traps to ensure the roads are safe for drivers and commuters.
