In just a blink of an eye, the pandemic changed everything doors were closed, thereby eradicating the accustomed and building a new normal.
The fast-paced shifting of my immediate environment from an active to a silent one produces lingering fears and doubts for the community and its people. As one of the major receivers of the change, I witnessed the changes brought by the pandemic in our community. The community became silent and there has been an economic setback people have lost jobs and other economic opportunities to support their own families, and the worst is some lost their loved ones. On the other hand, new rules and regulations are implied to limit the movement and for other sectors to continue functioning and give service to the people; telecommunications were extensively used for business and academic activities. While one significant positive change brought about by the pandemic is the restoration of the environment, people staying at home and pausing industrial and tourist activities give time for nature to recover thereby decreasing pollution and restoring the ecological habitats of animals.
While everything is changing, my life's book has changed as well; my values and beliefs have shifted, and I've learned to focus on self-care, be more cautious, and recalibrate. Past indeed has more active, positive, and comfortable phases but if I consistently look at the beauty of the past, I will become blind to the growth that the present have and the opportunities that the future bestows. Through, the pandemic I realized that taking life easy, is wrong because I should be serious and be engaged in more complex and complicated situations to become independent, educated, and appreciative, for nothing in life is certain.
The pandemic challenged me, but I will stick to that learned belief that humankind may be conflicted but is still greater than any of the circumstances.
