Sometimes I think hierarchies are houses that sort people into categories before they even know who they truly are... The hierarchy stands like a concrete tower of Babel reaching for the sky. I'm standing at the bottom looking up, choking on the dust from those above grinding their heels into my face.
I should be at the top. Instead I'm scrambling for the approval of my corporate overlords, giving away my time, energy and family for the fleeting title of "high performer." I imagine myself at the very top, snapping my fingers and saying "Problem solved!"
Haha, just kidding about being at the top! Hierarchies are useful - they organize labor and resources. The real solution lies elsewhere - in leveling hierarchies from the ground up by cultivating compassion, mutual aid and recognition of our shared interdependence. And when I get there, maybe I'll help others up instead.

A veces pienso que las jerarquías son casas que clasifican a las personas en categorías antes de que sepan quiénes son realmente... La jerarquía se erige como una torre de Babel de concreto que se alza hacia el cielo. Estoy parado en la base mirando hacia arriba, ahogándome en el polvo de aquellos arriba que aplastan sus talones en mi rostro.
Debería estar en la cima. En cambio, estoy luchando por la aprobación de mis superiores corporativos, regalando mi tiempo, energía y familia por el efímero título de "alto rendimiento". Me imagino en la cima, chasqueando los dedos y diciendo "¡Problema resuelto!"
¡Ja, ja, sólo bromeo acerca de estar en la cima! Las jerarquías son útiles, organizan el trabajo y los recursos. La solución real está en nivelar las jerarquías desde abajo, cultivando la compasión, la ayuda mutua y el reconocimiento de nuestra interdependencia compartida. Y cuando llegue allí, tal vez ayude a otros a subir también.
