"Oh no the wheel of that car just gave out!" Jimmy exclaimed. As a loud crash can be heard in the city square. It was a hot afternoon in the year 1923.
"Looks like the axle just got busted" Tommy replied crouching a bit to see the broken car wheel. Then he yelled to the owner of the car who was by now distraught on what to do. "Hey, do you need some help? I'm a student mechanic. I can help you get the car out of the road. " Tommy asked.
"Of course please" the distraught owner pleaded.
Jimmy looked at his watch "Dude we're almost late for class" he reminded Tommy.
"It won't take long. Come on, let's help him" Tommy persuaded. He walked up to the car and inspected it and said. "Looks like a broken axle you must have hit a pothole"
"So what can I do"
"I don't have my tools here, I guess I'll have to improvise. I need some steady hands to lift the car a bit so I could fit a few things and be able to get it off the road. Have you got some spare tyres?" he asked.
The car owner modded.
To Jimmy, Tommy asked. "Jimmy can I get a hand here please?"
Jimmy walked over to the car reluctantly and with the help of the car owner and a few helpers lifted the car up and Tommy placed the spare wheel in and tightened some nuts.
"Now let's push it out of the road, then you go get a tow car"
They pushed the car slowly towards the pedestrian curb. Sweat trickling down their faces as they tried to manoeuvre the vehicle over the cobblestones.
“Careful Jimmy, watch that bump!” Tommy directed.
They finally succeeded and the car owner said
"I guess I'll have to find a tow truck now?"
"Yeah sure" Tommy replied "And I guess I'll be leaving you now" he added.
"Thank you" the car owner appreciated him for his help.
Tommy quickly motioned Jimmy, signalling it was time to leave. With that they went on their way.
