God's coming

The town was empty initially. But when they all noticed that the reign of terror was over, they came out, one by one. To watch their worst nightmares come to an end.

The people, when they had heard that the god of luck would be coming to dwell among their midst, were excited. Many looked forward to the visit with no apprehension and few looked forward to it's coming with dread. They thought - If a god was coming in the form of a dragon, how was it going to answer their prayers, without breathing fire on them?

With time, this few had no choice but to join the majority and look forward to it's coming with excitement. But their hopes were short lived. It came and things changed.

The chief consultant of the gods had warned them against comparing the ways of the gods to the ways of man, when they had asked how they would be communicating with a dragon. He assured them to root their faith in, and look forward to the coming of the god of luck.

When it was time, the whole villagers had assembled at the village square, in anticipation. Seeing a god in one's life was no small feat and they all looked forward to it. The first flap of its wings, as the chief priest recited some incantations was breathtaking. And the villagers had held their breaths when the full length of the dragon had appeared in the sky. They all watched it, with glorious apprehension as it flapped it's wings and brought itself down to the ground. Everybody had taken a step back and bowed down to the god.

When they heard a huff of breath, the people on it's left were relieved, thinking their God had accepted them. But the people on it's right were running for their lives. The dragon kept huffing and puffing out fire from it's throat till half of the villagers who were within it's line of sight were burnt.

That was when Chief Consultant looked at what it was he was reading - the spell for the god of destruction. He managed to remedy the situation by binding it to the spot using a counter spell but it was stronger. They needed The Glass. The brown rimmed glass that connected the supernatural and the natural.

But the real problem was who was going to get it?

When the Chief Priest had gathered the rest of the villagers who survived and told them the requirements, nobody showed interest. No one was willing to risk their lives after barely escaping death by dragon fire.

That was why when Tony, volunteered to embark on the journey, after loosing his wife to dragon fire, the rest of the villagers were in support.

It took him two weeks but he came back.

And now, in front of the mirror, they all gathered. Tony first, Chief priest next. Them other villagers standing around them, hands raised, saying goodbye and indicating the end of terror. They all stand Watching their tormentor be sucked into another dimension, amidst all the debris.

This is my entry to the #PIC1000 contest.

What I see? A dragon being pulled into a mirror, with people around waving goodbye.

What I feel? Relief

How about the money in the air? Ever heard of the Chines New Year? (Spring Festival?). The year of the dragon is over. Thank you for joining pic1000 with your story.

I have heard of it but I don't have any detail about it. I loved participating. Thank you

Tony's bravery helped saved the village. Good riddance to the wicked dragon.

Yes it did
