Mikey could not believe that his former neighborhood, which was once vibrant and full of energy, has now been neglected and abandoned, leaving the whole place looking like a ghost town. The run-down infrastructure was evident everywhere. The roads were filled with potholes, the roofs of a lot of buildings had pulled off, there were utility poles and wires on the floor, even his former school was not left out, and everything on the playground was looking rusty.
He reminisces on how beautiful his childhood was and how he, his friends, and some of the kids in the neighborhood had spent countless times playing in the beautiful park, which was now overgrown with grass and littered with broken equipment and dirt everywhere.
He remembered how he and his friend Charlie would go to the local library to search for information to feed their curiosity; its sturdy walls now look crumbly, and the windows are hanging up there.
Mikey wondered within him what would have happened to the neighborhood.
