This is a 5-minute freewrite in response to the prompt from 1/9/2025 "the worst result"
Stagnation and neglect are terrible fates for any system or relationship.
It has been said that the opposite of love is indifference, and the original dungeons were open holes where prisoners were thrown and forgotten.
Systems collapse from entropy, and it takes constant observation and correction to keep them running. Neglect is deeply harmful to relationships and is often the result of ignorance of the needs of other parties. Over time the result of said entropy and neglect is contempt and ruination. Nations have crumbled from within from these two pernicious forces.
The worst result we have have is when we pour of life's energy into work and relationships and we are met with neglect that leads to stagnation. We have nothing to show from years of struggle, and it has a penchant to drive us to madness. Better to suffer a hammer blow than to be ground into dust over time.
The worst result is often a catastrophic failure of the system in our mind, but stagnation is far worse and harder to recover from. As the waters of neglect rise they consume everything and sap our will to recover and make do in our daily struggles. Make sure to be diligent, patient and stay on top of your maintenance obligations. View them as opportunities.
