Glare - 5 Minute Freewrite

Today was another great day out on the water. The glare from sun bouncing off the ripples in the water was in full effect. Luckily I brought along my handy sunglasses. They've not just for making a fashion statement either. They protect your eyes too.

My seasickness was not present on this gorgeous day. Although I do own a sailboat my tummy has always been sensitive to the movement. On the water I'm usually pretty good on relatively calm days, on those rough ones I don't go out. I suppose navigating in inclement weather is the worst case scenario if one knows about it beforehand. I've been caught in some massive squalls before that were very frightening at the time.

I normally do solo voyages over the years as I like the solitude the seas can provide. I have great respect for those that do the same over long trips. You can only count on yourself in these situations. Sure we have all the technological doodads these days but that will only get you so far. This is the true test, you vs the sea.

The sea is cooperating this day and I packed a nice lunch along with my trusty fishing rod. I'm sitting back with my sunglasses on of course, my big sunhat providing additional shade and eating my sandwich. My pole has been in the water for twenty minutes without even a nibble.

Hold on a minute, I see the rod flexing. Speak of the devil I think there is a fish on the line!
