The admission list is out, and Olivia has just been offered admission into the University of Calabar to study biochemistry. While she was happy about it, her mother wasn't. Olivia is an only child who was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Felix after eight years of childlessness.
Mrs. Felix devoted her time to taking care of her and protecting her in the best way she could think of, which came off as being too strict to Olivia. Mrs. Felix made sure she always chose what her daughter could wear and what she couldn't, what friends she could keep and what she couldn't. She literally has a curfew regarding her going out and coming in. She couldn't even keep or have male friends.
This was so sickening to Olivia that she longed to have a little freedom or even to be able to think for herself. Olivia was overwhelmed with joy when the first list of admissions came out with her name in it. She had actually applied for it without the consent of her parents. You won't accept this admission.
Olivia, Calabar is far, and I can't have you far from me and your dad. How do we keep an eye on you?. People outside are wicked, and you barely know how to take care of yourself, said Mrs. Olivia. This issue between mother and daughter went back and forth for a while until Mr. Felix was able to persuade her. Honey Olivia is seventeen, and I am sure she can look out for herself. There are students way younger than herself in the university, so she will be alright.
Three weeks later, Olivia went for her registration in school with her mom tagging along all through the process. Mrs. Felix made sure she will be staying on campus and not off campus; that way she feels her baby will be safe. Olivia had fully resumed and settled in.
She kept to herself most times, not until she met Paul, who was a 400lv student in her department, in which they became close. Paul, seeing how naive Olivia was, had tried several times to sleep with her by telling her how everyone is doing it and how it's okay.
Olivia had tried to open up to her mom during one of their random calls, asking her about relationships and what to do and not to do. She even went further, asking her about sex and all, but Mrs. rebuked her and told her not to discuss such issues until she came of age.
Eventually she gave in to Paul since it was okay and everyone was doing it. She also wanted to do what everyone was doing.
Long story short, Olivia got pregnant. When she found out, she told Paul, but he denied it. Not knowing what to do, she called her mom and told her Mrs. Felix was so downcasted and wished she had discussed this more when Olivia had asked.
