I fell in love with drawings in my preteens and wanted to draw where others saw an easy way out in tracing out what was placed before them to draw out and perfected that skill with every raw scribble.
I fell in love with mathematics in my teens when a teacher gave me his full attention with my many questions in confusion on how to solve maths value till I had a voila moment and discovered all it took to be an expert at solving mathematics. The rules were just so simple.
I chose to do accounting because it was the popular course that had my favourite subject embedded in it but never truly loved it although I saw it to the end. It was there I discovered my love for teaching and imparting knowledge as it came easy to me in tutoring my course mates.
I decided at sewing when I had great pictures in my mind but in communicating this to the tailors I encountered they saw an overenthusiatic know it all. It was sad that they never came close to bringing my dreamy pictures to life. I learnt to sew immediately after my university studies and during my compulsory service year (NYSC).
I love that all I know and love brought me to this moment. I used all these skills in my fashion designing journey.
Drawing + calculations + envisioning + Sewing skill = MAWA the Fashion designer. You could say that I am a not-so-conventional fashion designer on the block but a growing fashion designer for the past 6 years.
