When nature gave us trees, it gave us one of the best gifts we can ever ask for. Mankind is indeed blessed to have trees around them. I have always wondered why people in some.parts of the world have trees around their homes when I was younger. I never understood what it meant until then I started attending agricultural science and biology classes where the economic importance of trees were discussed.
Simply put, all living things, man and animals derive their existence from trees. Thu.might me shocking but it is true, a revelation that encourages me to care for trees, knowing that the survival.of mankind is determined by the number of trees planted or that existed on planet earth.
Some years ago, partake in a tree planting exercise. It was needed because of the release of carbon-monoxide from industrial waste around the area. This was necessitated to increase the production of more oxygen into the atmosphere. When trees are planted and cared for, they in turn care for our atmosphere by absorbing the chemical waste that must have been released into the atmosphere.
You must have seen animals of different species making a home out of trees. The swan of weaver birds that sings sweet and melodious songs in the money. The parrots that tell man how the environment is run or whenever it is under attack. These birds and other wildlife find a habitat on trees. With trees around you, you can be sure of a balance in the ecosystem.
In flood-prone areas, trees help to a large extent in regulating the flow of water whenever there is a heavy downpour. They do this by absorbing and storing water, thereby eliminating or reducing the risk.of erosion and flooding. This goes a long way to tell mankind how much lives and property can be saved when trees are planted, nurtured or advocated for.
Another thing that I think is worthy of mention is the fact that trees provide mankind with food. From all ages, most food that mankind would need for survival comes from trees. Talk about major fruits, their source is the tree. From the trees, most raw materials needed for the production of useful goods are gotten from trees. I remember visiting a charcoal production site. There, I saw the usefulness of trees in another dimension. To say the fact, the economic relevance of trees is inexhaustible. The reddish pigment of your popular zobo drink is gotten from a huge tree. When mankind does more research about trees, they tend to get useful results. The more reason we should ensure that deforestation is banned, at least to keep this place called the earth safe.
Trees also help regulate the climate by absorbing harmful or chemical pollutants. Since the plants need carbon dioxide to survive, which man releases, trees also release a lot of oxygen which mankind needs to survive. It is wise to say therefore that trees create a balance in the ecosystem for man.
Have you discovered that most homes and important public places are beautified by trees? Trees also provide us with a reference point from where
we can meditate. In Chinese medicine, it is believed that staying alone in such an environment with trees can heal a man's soul. The beauty that comes with those areas in the metropolis with trees planted sequentially tells more about how trees play a vital role in the life of man.
However, because of greed and lack of knowledge, this important creation of nature suffers.
The activities of man which is causing perforation in the zone layer thereby causing climate change have endangered the existence of trees on earth. Heatwave, wildfire, and drought are one of the threats that confronts trees around the world.
In Africa where I hail from, I mean, Nigeria most especially, the activities of estate agents and change in land use have also brought about endangerment to trees. Lands that were used for farm purposes are now being considered or used for urbanization. This has brought about tree felling to a large extent.and you and I have known the effects.
There is also the threats posed by nature itself. The activities of insects that chop off tree branches and the whole lump in some instances is a call we cannot neglect. In North America, the prevalence of the Dutch Elm Disease has destroyed Elm trees on a large scale.
There is also the threat posed by wild wind, hurricanes, tornadoes, landslides and floods. All these natural factors have decimated species of trees and made them vulnerable around the globe.
The list of threatening factors against the trees is long but one intervention could be conservation of trees. A number of advocacy is already being launched in this direction. We hope to see more.

Cuando la naturaleza nos dio árboles, nos dio uno de los mejores regalos que podemos pedir. La humanidad tiene la suerte de tener árboles a su alrededor. Siempre me he preguntado por qué la gente en algunas partes del mundo tiene árboles alrededor de sus casas cuando era más joven. Nunca entendí lo que significaba hasta que comencé a asistir a clases de ciencias agrícolas y biología donde se discutía la importancia económica de los árboles.
En pocas palabras, todos los seres vivos, el hombre y los animales, derivan su existencia de los árboles. Puede que me sorprenda, pero es cierto, una revelación que me anima a cuidar de los árboles, sabiendo que la supervivencia de la humanidad está determinada por la cantidad de árboles plantados o que existían en el planeta Tierra.
Hace algunos años, participé en un ejercicio de plantación de árboles. Era necesario debido a la liberación de monóxido de carbono de los desechos industriales en la zona. Esto era necesario para aumentar la producción de más oxígeno en la atmósfera. Cuando se plantan árboles y se los cuida, a su vez cuidan nuestra atmósfera al absorber los desechos químicos que deben haberse liberado a la atmósfera.

Seguramente habrás visto animales de distintas especies que construyen su hogar en los árboles. El cisne o los pájaros tejedores que cantan canciones dulces y melodiosas en el jardín. Los loros que le dicen al hombre cómo se maneja el medio ambiente o cuándo está bajo ataque. Estas aves y otros animales salvajes encuentran un hábitat en los árboles. Con árboles a tu alrededor, puedes estar seguro de que habrá un equilibrio en el ecosistema.
En las zonas propensas a inundaciones, los árboles ayudan en gran medida a regular el flujo de agua cuando hay un aguacero fuerte. Lo hacen absorbiendo y almacenando agua, eliminando o reduciendo así el riesgo de erosión e inundaciones. Esto es muy útil para mostrarle a la humanidad cuántas vidas y propiedades se pueden salvar cuando se plantan, cuidan o defienden los árboles.
Otra cosa que creo que es digna de mención es el hecho de que los árboles proporcionan alimento a la humanidad. Desde siempre, la mayoría de los alimentos que la humanidad necesita para sobrevivir provienen de los árboles. Hablando de frutas importantes, su fuente es el árbol. De los árboles, la mayoría de las materias primas necesarias para la producción de bienes útiles se obtienen de los árboles. Recuerdo haber visitado un lugar de producción de carbón. Allí vi la utilidad de los árboles en otra dimensión. Es un hecho que la importancia económica de los árboles es inagotable. El pigmento rojizo de la popular bebida zobo se obtiene de un árbol enorme. Cuando la humanidad investiga más sobre los árboles, tienden a obtener resultados útiles. Con más razón deberíamos asegurarnos de prohibir la deforestación, al menos para mantener seguro este lugar llamado la Tierra.
Los árboles también ayudan a regular el clima al absorber contaminantes químicos o nocivos. Dado que las plantas necesitan dióxido de carbono para sobrevivir, que el hombre libera, los árboles también liberan una gran cantidad de oxígeno que la humanidad necesita para sobrevivir. Por lo tanto, es sensato decir que los árboles crean un equilibrio en el ecosistema para el hombre.
¿Ha descubierto que la mayoría de las casas y lugares públicos importantes están embellecidos por árboles? Los árboles también nos proporcionan un punto de referencia desde el que podemos meditar. En la medicina china, se cree que permanecer solo en un entorno con árboles puede curar el alma de un hombre. La belleza de las zonas de la metrópoli con árboles plantados en secuencia nos dice mucho sobre el papel vital que desempeñan los árboles en la vida del hombre.
Sin embargo, debido a la codicia y la falta de conocimiento, esta importante creación de la naturaleza sufre.
Las actividades del hombre, que están provocando perforaciones en la capa de la zona y provocando así el cambio climático, han puesto en peligro la existencia de los árboles en la Tierra. Las olas de calor, los incendios forestales y la sequía son una de las amenazas que enfrentan los árboles en todo el mundo.
En África, de donde vengo, es decir, Nigeria en particular, las actividades de los agentes inmobiliarios y el cambio en el uso de la tierra también han puesto en peligro a los árboles. Las tierras que se utilizaban para fines agrícolas ahora se están considerando o utilizando para la urbanización. Esto ha provocado la tala de árboles en gran medida, y usted y yo conocemos los efectos.
También existen las amenazas que plantea la propia naturaleza. Las actividades de los insectos que cortan las ramas de los árboles y, en algunos casos, todo el tronco es una llamada que no podemos descuidar. En América del Norte, la prevalencia de la enfermedad del olmo holandés ha destruido los olmos a gran escala. También existe la amenaza que representan los vientos fuertes, los huracanes, los tornados, los deslizamientos de tierra y las inundaciones. Todos estos factores naturales han diezmado especies de árboles y los han vuelto vulnerables en todo el mundo.
La lista de factores que amenazan a los árboles es larga, pero una intervención podría ser la conservación de los árboles. Ya se están lanzando varias iniciativas en esta dirección. Esperamos ver más.
