Last Blossom, a haiku

in #hive-1614653 years ago

I tend to be a wordy writer so I am working on haiku to try to improve my discipline and word selection. Who knows? :)

I love writing Haiku. So simple and elegant when written well. Yours is written well. I could feel the chill of Autumn in your words. Wonderful.

Thank you for reading my poem, I am glad that you felt it was well written! I am really enjoying playing with the form. Looking forward to finding some of your haikus :)

What is a haiku?
I don't think I'm familiar with it.
Nice words though. And they match the picture of the tree you posted with it

Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry, very formal. You do not need to rhyme though, but it is always three line poems, with strict syllable length of 5-7-5. So every word counts :)

Wow. Thanks so much. I shall do more research on this form of poetry and try it out.

Well, not exactly. The 5-7-5 requirement doesn't really work in English the same as in Japanese, so many consider it not necessary. Many Japanese haiku no longer stick to the strict count anyway. That said, it is a good guide for keeping your poem short.

Hmm, I learned something new today! But I like rules so I will stick to the elementary school version of the rules :)

Very good!
