High speed 5G internet with Jio

in #hive-1635213 hours ago

For the past few months, Jio has been offering free 5G internet to those who have mobile phones that can support 5G internet. This is one of the next revolutionary changes in India. I know for a fact that many countries are already exploring 6G but it is a good thing that we are at least getting 5G now. I have a handset that supports 5G and I'm able to see the difference it is creating for the users.

High-speed wireless internet

With the help of this technology, one of the best things we can get it is the high-speed wireless internet. Earlier if we wanted high-speed internet, we had to be dependent on cables that reach our house. Those cables then changed to Fiber optics which is still one of the top technologies for data transmission. Today things have improved a lot. Not just Jio, I think the other competitive service providers have also started providing this feature. I would say it is good for us if they fight with each other. That's how the technology transition is happening where the restrictions we used to have in the starting days are now a lot better.

Broadband connections with 5G

I'm currently using the Jio Air Fiber being offered by Jio. The reason how I started using this was when I had a lot of issues with wired connections. I thought maybe if we switched to wireless, I may not have any of these problems. But I have to commend that during the starting stages, it was very good and gradually the quality of the service started coming down. I guess it is because of the number of users trying to come to Jio Air Fiber. In many places, people are fully switching from Jio Fiber to Jio Air Fiber and even the new connections are straight away starting on that.

The engineers while doing a setup bring a device to check the tower strength nearby and the speed of the internet. On their device, the speed was close to 600 Mbps. When I checked on my mobile after installation, I noticed that the speed was good on my laptop too. I'm currently on a 100 Mbps plan and I get around 100 to 120 Mbps which is good.

Frequent disconnection

Currently just because many users are using this, the quality of the connection is not very great. The internet is coming directly from the nearby tower. I used to have this problem frequently where the connection was frequently disconnecting. Sometimes the issue might be on the tower side and sometimes the issue might just be a temporary one. In the last two months, I had to create a ticket for this and follow up to get it sorted. But other than frequent disconnection, I see the speed and browsing experience is very great. One thing that I have not checked yet is to play online games like Dota 2 to find out the latency I have. I remember having issues in the past when I used to play games on WiFi instead of using a wired Ethernet cable.

It sounds frustrating to deal with frequent disconnections, but it's great to hear the speed and browsing experience are solid otherwise.

We have 5g for a while here, I must say it's a big difference with 4g, but fiber cable is still better... Who knows how 6g will be
