Axiom Space is a company that wants to build out the first private space station in earth orbit.
This mission will carry four private Astronauts. Three paying customers and Axiom's own mission commander, Michael López-Alegría, a former NASA astronaut.
The astronauts will fly in a SpaceX Dragon capsule on a Falcon 9 rocket.
Total mission duration is 10 days, with 8 days on orbit.
Next significant steps are the build-out of their own station by adding modules to the ISS, and eventually detaching the whole assembly and become a self sufficient station.
The business model includes space tourism, astronaut training, micro gravity research experiments and eventually commercial manufacturing.
Axiom might also be involved in helping Tom Cruise make a movie in space.
