Our New Demi-God or the Ultimate Slave?

Like what the hell is really going on these days.

If you ask me, I will say the internet is becoming a demi-god that validates what and who is right and wrong.

Lately, I have been reading or just coming across countless articles about the digitalization of everything and Artificial Intelligence. I really had to write that out to have a feel of how fucked up things could get if we let these shinny new things become out masters instead of a good slaves that they are.

Yes, technology is one way to end slavery if you ask me because no one would be mad if Alexa or Jarvis does all the laundry, cleans the house and cooks the meal. These things are basically toys that sure help enhance human productivity.

But if you look at it closely you will realize that many people are making a mess of it all. Before anything, I always understand this mantra from Luke belmar which is that “if you don't have a reason for using an app, don't bother signing up”. Somehow I had Facebook before, but after Facebook…that was the only place I think has my data.

During the lockdown which was the birth of the couch potatoes validator I realized that many people were going online to discuss their problems, fears and also dreams while leaving it all in real life. You still have those fears, problems and that dream is not chased nor are you drafting a life plan to help put your whole life in place.

Luckily or surprisingly, that was when I realized that social media wasn't for me and I got out of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. I haven’t even thought about web 3 being a home for me back then but all I had in mind was that this was not for me. The feeling was just there. Tbh I was called crazy after so many people dint have direct access to me anymore since I'm not online.

However, if you wanted to reach me you just had to call. Mehn I love those days of using a Nokia touch to make endless phone calls. Honestly, I was the calling type of guy who loved to make conference calls between friends. I was willing to waste my entire airtime just to hear from a long-time friend. But as soon as social media came of age we all forgot about the call button feature. If it’s not important, you rarely see people making end to end phone calls. Not the WhatsApp type.

Today I was walking and met with a long time friend who complained about my absence or offline attitude on social media. In his words social media is what everyone now uses and me still acting like I live under a rock sounds too old school even for a first generation genz like me. So I asked who made the rule that everyone must use social media to connect and his response was — thats how the internet works now and everyone knows.

You see something about me is that when I get a feeling that something isn't i usually don't have a clear word or expression to make it understandable to others but when the results are showing ill point them out. The result of too much validation on the internet is that we don't go to the source to find out if an information is real, correct or accurate anymore. If you want to cook just google search how its done and that's all.

I hope you enjoyed your meal.
