I have always been looking for an opportunity to break away from my daily, somewhat monotonous routine. After the long absence of travel, I just needed someplace to go so that it would displace the boredom that crept into my life. The feeling of being confined at home has never agreed with me.

A waterfall attraction, the Tousuvan Ecopark features the Tousuvan Falls or popularly known as the Bongolanon Falls in the town of Magpet, North Cotabato. This natural heritage in the southern-central part of Mindanao covers a huge area of flora and fauna and had been under the care of the local government Unit of Magpet since its discovery. With a minimal fee from visitors and tourists, the natural resort is well-preserved and maintained.

The falls are about 30 meters high with a wide pool below with cold, crystal-clear waters. The falls are surrounded by different sizes and formations of rocks, framed by tall trees covered with mosses and ferns. A variety of flora are located just before you enter its luxuriating waters. Nearby cottages are built for picnickers.

Reliable information passed on to me has it that these falls were formed some more than a hundred years ago and were discovered by adventurous locals hiking in these mountains.
The Tou svavan Falls are situated at the base of the highest peak of the Philippines—the Mount Apo Natural Park—hence the water is quite fresh and cool. With the passing of time, the friction generated by the Mount Apo's water, gradually, perhaps also opened a way for its flowing course to expand in width and length.

Tousuvan Falls is some 20 to 30 minutes away from Kidapawan, the capital city of North Cotabato. The falls can be seen from afar as you enter the highly elevated vicinity of the ecopark with its lush surrounding vegetation. Stairs lead to the wide open space where the cottages are also located. There is a restroom; the lawn is landscaped. The entire area is clean.

A small, local Bagobo village tribe has preserved the secluded beauty of the waterfalls, popularly known as Tousuvan Falls or Bongolanon Falls. The P20 entrance fee, plus another P20 for parking and a fee for cottages, all go into maintaining its environment and facilities.
On the other hand, the town of Magpet has numerous cascading waterfalls, but the most famous is Tousuvan Falls.

Tousuvan Falls is a calm getaway, a true beauty. I chose to feel the tranquility of the place instead of taking a dip into its icy waters.
As many people come to visit this remarkable site, Tousuvan Ecopark in Bongolanon, Magpet, North Cotabato is only one of numerous natural heritages the Philippine islands are known to possess.

What a breathtaking array of natural wonders you have in your region! I can vividly imagine the enchanting beauty of Magpet, with its lush greenery and the stunning valleys that envelop Kidapawan. The majestic presence of Mount Apo, particularly the captivating Kaputian mountain trail, truly adds to the area's allure. By the way, I remember someone from my teenage years who hailed from your town. He belonged to a well-off family, which was quite notable in your community.

Thank you! We're very fortunate to live in such a beautiful place. It's wonderful to hear you can vividly imagine its beauty. Magpet and Kidapawan are truly special. And yes, Mount Apo is magnificent – the Kaputian trail is a favorite among many. It's always interesting to hear about connections to our region from people who have memories here, even from their youth. Perhaps you'll get a chance to visit again someday!

One of these days, when I head back to my hometown, Davao City. I'll gather my friends and visit the place again. A summer trek is fun, though you will experience hot weather below, but when you reach the peak of Mt Apo, you will experience the cold weather and the breathtaking panoramic view atop.

Such a gem sis. Instagrammable and paradise. It would be lovely to take a dip there.

Aw, thank you so much sis! I'm so happy you like the picture. It really was paradise; I could have stayed there all day.

That is beautiful, and I love the plants around the falls.

I'm so glad you think so! The plants really do add to the beauty of the falls. It's one of my favorite spots.
