Hi my Hivian friends, I'd love to take you for a walk along the Umhlanga Rocks Promenade on the North Coast of Durban Kwa Zulu Natal South Africa, and watch the ships sail by in the distance to the Durban Harbour.
It was a bit misty, but still enjoyable, the freshness of the sea air against one's cheek and listening to the sound of the waves rushing to the shore, is enough to lift the soul.
So come along with me and enjoy the journey.
Umhlanga Rocks Beach is the main beach of Umhlanga on South Africa's Indian Ocean coastline, and is famous for safe surfing and swimming.
The name Umhlanga derives from the Zulu language meaning "beds of reeds" which refers to the reeds that grow along the "Ohlanga River" north of Umhlanga Rocks.
The architecture in Umhlanga are very modern and it's interior design is very luxurious, I can only assume that being such an affluent city, and judging by the high standard and quality of the work, the Architects would only be the best in the country.
We took a walk past the Cabana Beach Resort, a beautiful self catering accommodation on the beach front.
"The Bellezar" is one of the popular restaurants on the promenade, a great place to meet with friends.
Bellezar is one of Durban's best Beach Café, Bar and Restaurant which serves the most delicious food, from burgers to fine dining.
They also serve the most amazing sea food, one can sit and enjoy the view over looking the Indian Ocean while sipping a cold beer.
And watch the ships sail by in the distance to the Durban Harbour.
Umhlanga Beach is also popular amongst the avert deep sea fishermen.
We took a walk to the "La Spiaggia Restaurant" over looking the Beach.
We watched people playing and enjoying themselves on the soft sand, while we waited for our meal.
I haven't tasted such crispy fried fish and chips for a long time, not since we visited Cape Town a year ago.
It was the most delicious fresh fish with tartar sauce.
I must say "Kudos" to the chef, it's the best fish and chips in Durban.
These little sparrows bobbing around under the chairs, seemed unperturbed by the activity above them.
They were having a jolly time chirping away and pecking at the crumbs dropped by customers, enjoying their feast.
These two well behaved "fur children" were enjoying their breakfast with their parents.
Such cuties, I wish mine were well behaved like them.
After our hearty meal, we decided to go for dessert.
Omg!....we couldn't resist the "Italian Ice-cream Corner".
I was quite intrigued by the ice cream graffiti on the wall.
So many flavours to choose from, delicious creamy ice cream, yummy.
Well...we ended our journey along the Umhlanga Rocks Promenade with a delicious Italian Ice Cream then made our way back to the parking lot.
I had to take a photo of the palm trees which were heavy with fruit, lovely coco-nuts.
I was hoping one would drop, but...alas, it wasn't going to happen any time soon.
I love Durban.
I hope you enjoyed the little walk with me along the Umhlanga Rocks Beach Promenade in Durban South Africa.
Until next time, travel safe.
