Contemporary art promises a future, but what happens if contemporary art is based on a belief or religion? Interesting to discuss, right?! So this time my feet took me to an interesting place to study temples in the city of Bangkok, Thailand. I like to walk around the city of Bangkok to see some of the temple buildings which make me very interested in their designs.

Starting from looking for a big temple in the city of Bangkok, I found a temple that is different from other temples. Wat Suthiwararam, a temple with contemporary Buddhist art performances, is known to bring up many ideas from contemporary art that will attract a lot of sympathy from young people (especially Thailand) to learn about Buddhism.

Interestingly, this temple looked very different from other temples in Thailand and this was a unique experience for me. This temple is not far from the famous Wat Yannawa with a temple design similar to a ship, located at Thanon Charoen Krung and lots of public transportation will pass through this temple.

Really, I like a lot about the art of a Buddhist temple from this, the glimpse of the buildings and some of the details are very different from the many Buddhist temples I've explored, Wat Suthiwararam has a more modern and youthful concept. Exploring Wat Suthiwararam from the outside alone was invaluable for me, especially with the detail of some of the carvings and the many statues outside the temple.

Some of the buildings around the building look very modern, like one of the buildings that seems to be used as the final resting place for the dead. This room looks very modern compared to other temples, looks very modern but still maintains religious values.

Almost all the statues that exist as offerings are pure white in color, with various shapes according to beliefs, unlike many temples which use gold for all Buddha statues. This is one of the uniqueness of Wat Suthiwararam which is very different from most other temples in Thailand.

The exhibition is held every weekend, from 2 pm to 6 pm, but unfortunately I couldn't see the exhibition because I didn't know it, even though I was waiting to see the exhibition, I walked in the rain to come to this temple and I can still be grateful to see temple with my eyes and see how beautiful and magnificent this temple is. The art exhibition is held in the main building of the temple, right behind the biggest Buddha statue in this temple, there are many instructions to direct the exhibition area, so it's not difficult to find it. You can also ask anyone, because they are very friendly.

There are many photos that I took to capture them on my cellphone, some of which I will share with you. If you come to the city of Bangkok, at least you can enjoy the exhibition from this temple according to the schedule so you don't lose to try it.

Wat Suthiwararam is a temple that is not too crowded with visitors, suitable for tourists to try new adventures in the temple and learn the habits of local Thai people, this is suitable to try. I really like to see things like this in my every trip, to be able to give deeper gratitude and respect to fellow human beings.

This temple is very clean, very well cared for especially the plants around, so it looks very comfortable for anyone who visits. Many bonsai plants are cared for and trimmed very neatly, adding a shady and cozy impression. The sound of birds chirping makes this temple feel like it is in the countryside, even though this temple is right on the edge of a highway that is passed by various types of vehicles.

Despite the rain, this temple still shows its splendor. The sunlight that has begun to fade can still show the aura of this temple, especially in the Buddha statue that you see for the first time when you enter the temple. If I ever come back to Bangkok, I might try to come to Wat Suthiwararam and see the Buddhist art performance at the right time.

See you the next time hive friends!
