HELLO EVERYONE

Have you heard about Tevfik Fikret?

Aşiyan Museum (Turkish: Aşiyan Müzesi) is the house of famous Turkish poet Tevfik Fikret (1867–1915) at Aşiyan neighborhood of Beşiktaş district in Istanbul. It was built in 1906 and later in 1945 converted to a museum. The museum is owned by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality

Building
Tevfik Fikret lived in the house from 1906 until his death in 1915. The building was acquired in 1940 by the municipality from his wife Nazime with the initiative of Lütfi Kırdar, Mayor and Governor of Istanbul, and was converted into a museum named Museum of New Literature (Ottoman Turkish: Edebiyat-ı Cedide Müzesi). The museum opened in 1945. The museum was renamed Aşiyan in 1961 after the remains of Tevfik Fikret, which initially were buried at the Eyüp Cemetery, were taken to his home's yard he liked very much due to its panoramic view of Bosporus.

Tevfik Fikret designed the architectural project of the house by himself and named his house "Aşiyan", which means "nest" in the Persian language. The house is a three-story wooden building with a garden.

My advice to those who will go, be prepared to get tired while walking the road because you will walk a lot of slopes and if the weather is hot when you go, I am sure you will be very tired and sweaty. I suggest you do some walking exercises before you go :))

Don't worry, after walking this road, there is a beautiful view for you to sit and watch. After resting for a while, you can start visiting the museum.

While entering, the security told us that taking pictures is prohibited, after a little talk, he realized that we often visit museums and said that I can only take pictures in the bedroom. so I will find other photos from the internet except bedroom photos.

The only place inside the museum where we were allowed to take pictures was the bedroom, and the bedroom was the most beautiful place for me because the view was amazing, anyone who wakes up here every morning and looks at this view can always be happy. The famous artist passed away in this room, the most important work you can see in this room is the poet's face mask, which was taken from Mihri Müşfik Hanım after his death.

We went down to the last floor and there was also a kitchen section. but I couldn't take pictures of it, I couldn't find a photo that looked good on the internet.

After that, we wanted to take a walk in the garden, although not very big, it had a very beautiful garden, some people were sitting chatting and some people were reading books. the garden was quiet and breezy.

The famous poet lived in this villa with his wife Nazime Hanım between 1906-1915. After Tevfik Fikret's death in 1915, the house, which preserved its former state for a while, was rented by his wife as a hostel to college students due to financial insufficiency. When this is not enough, Nazime Hanım finds a solution by selling the house.

Thereupon, the house was bought by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, with the initiatives of Lütfi Kırdar, who was the Governor of Istanbul at the time and also the Mayor. On August 19, 1945, Aşiyan House opened its doors to art lovers as the Literature-ı Cedide Museum. Tevfik Fikret's body in Eyüp Cemetery was transferred to the garden of this museum in 1961 upon the poet's will.

I would definitely recommend everyone to go, walking will make you a little tired, but transportation is not difficult at all. You will love the atmosphere. If you come to Istanbul, you should definitely buy a Museum PASS and visit all the museums.
