Going around baguio for the long weekend

in #hive-16377225 days ago

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I last wrote anything. My consistency plummeted when my seniors returned and they had to train me while I was doing my regular workload, and I must say, in the last 2 weeks that they've been training me with the new lab management system, I have never fekt this burnt out. Like I was really burnt out that all I wanted to do was sleep and sleep and sleep.
And that burnout has lead me to going on a mini vacation with my best friend ^^
We had actually planned to do this on my birthday, but since the opportunity presented itself as an extremely long weekend, who were we to waste the opportunity XD

This is actually my first time commuting there alone because she lives so far away now so we won't be taking the same route anymore. On the way there, I had a series of unfortunate events wherein I almost lost my phone and wallet, almost got lost and spent the most uncomfortable night on the bus. I will not go into much details on that, but here I am at 3am in the bus terminal. The bus arrived like 2 hours early because it drove at night and because the bus left Manila really really early.

I did try waiting at the bus station for like a good 2 hours before going out, but at 5am, I got hungry and I remembered this 24 hour Cafe that we went to last time I was there. Good thing there were taxis even at that hour so I got to my destination safe and I avoided needing to walk around own alone at such an ungodly hour. Good thing they served breakfast so I managed to still get myself food, coffee and a place to stay for the next 3 hours or so XD

This is the omurice at foam coffee and it was sooooo good!

At 7am though, almost 8? I got bored of just sitting and sketching so I opted for a walk around Burnham park, which is like the central park in this area. It's a huge park and I've always loved hanging around here because of how nice the breeze is and how festive the park in itself is. Like, there were bikes, and swan boats in he lakes, there were dance classes that anyone could join. It's always this fun around here, especially with the fact that it was a saturday. More people are free to enjoy the time there.

I ended up walking to the mall by like... 9am because I told my best friend I would wait for here there. I spent a good 2 hours just walking around aimlessly and I even ended up taking lots of shots of the skyline because it was really overlooking the city. Unfortunately, most of NY shots were foggy and this was probably one of the few cloudless and fogless ones I managed to capture.

After meeting up, we just talked, caught up and checked into our accommodation then we took a really long nap XD
We only woke up for dinner time, I think XD and We had that dinner at a Korean BBQ place that's hidden along session road. I count that place as one of the best KBBQ places I've ever been to because the meat was so soft and all the side dishes were just bomb! We ended up using the entire time allotment here just talking and talking. And I really missed this woman, I swear.
We headed back to our accommodation at around 9pm, talked some more then after a while, we just both knocked out because we were just sooooo tiired!

Then the very next day, it was the Sunday market at session road! This Sunday market initiative was actually a really nice thing the local government did to promote their local talents, and even to showcase their local products too. I always look forward to this now whenever I go here because the food is always to come back for. And this time, I tried the biryani and I honestly regretted it the first time I checked out the Sunday market ;;-;; It was just that good, and the samosa as well when it was freshly cooked!!! I definitely wish I bought more samosas! I tried looking for a few more souvenirs to bring back to my family though but they were a little too pricey.

Despite how pricey the stuff was, this Sunday market was a really good day for me ^^

I also got to buy some chalk here so I got to draw a little bit on the artist part of session road.

Then here was my drawing that I couldn't get to finish because it started drizzling. Then not long after, it definitely started to pour and we had to seek shelter somewhere. And that somewhere was an overpass XD

See how much it rained from here. Luckily, this was pretty close to the souvenir and vegetable market. We ended up doing the rest of our souvenir shopping here, and I actually ended up getting a bit of vegetable gto cook at home XD I couldn't help myself, it was just that cheap and I really wanted more veggies in my diet.

By the time we were done souvenir shopping, it was around 8pm already XD lucky that the biryani place was still open so we got one last buy from the place then we got really good cake at Vizco's. This patisserie is only found in the north, none in Manila so this definitely one of the food places I make a point to buy from when I'm in baguio.

I'm still kind of sad that we didn't get to have a drinking session here, but I'm sure we'll have other times to do that ^^
It is Monday now, as I'm writing this and we're just waiting for our respective busses to begin boarding. So for now, we'll be chattering away because who knows when I'll see my best friend again. This was a weekend we'll spent ^^ How was your weeends, guys? Had a fun one?
