Hello adventurous friends! And so begins my first trail of 2024 and it is an adventure of more than 12km in which we will travel through beautiful landscapes, streams, mountains, the beautiful views of the Lousa mountain range and I present everything to you in this post! Let's say it's not one of the most difficult things I've done but it's not one of the easiest either. I fell twice haha and I'm a really experienced walker, the terrain presents quite a challenge now in winter with so much humidity! However, that gives a special touch to our walk!🧭🚩🌏
The first walk of the year🧭🌄/La primera caminata del año🍍🚩
Our adventure begins here in a small village called "Alfocheira", which is very small, I dare say, with less than 500 inhabitants and from here begins our journey towards the beginning of the Toffu trail which from this point to the point of origin you must walk about 3km, starting with an easy walk through the streets of the village until taking the route that will take you to an alternative dirt road that is quite hard to walk on, full of stones and slippery sand. Here began my first adventure of the year with high intensity! As you can see, the village traditionally decorates with Christmas things and the birth of Jesus! Many houses have handmade facades built with seashells!🌏🚩🚙
uff!! What a piece of landscape when we began to walk between the main road that would take us to the trail, it would undoubtedly be a place where I would retire!! It is full of peace, there are no tourists, quite safe by the way, to the sides we see the small mountains of Lousa which is like a mountain range that borders the Loures area and Lousa is quite visited by hikers and there are actually exclusive trails for motocross or bikecross! If you ask me the best height? I would say summer but prepare for the heat and sun!🚙🚩🍍
taking the right path🚵♂️🚩
After walking about 2.5km we will reach a descent where we will begin the Trail which will have a route of approximately 12km and is classified as a circular trail because you will return to the starting point! Depending on your pace, it could take you between 2-3 hours! The characteristics of the terrain as I mentioned are very rustic, you will need hiking boots and walking sticks or you could hurt yourself! very likely you will slip sometime along the way xD👀🧭🌏
After walking about 4km, the first thing to do is come across this beautiful windmill from the beginning of the 17th century and here we can take some photos and rest a little, in reality you can climb to the top of the windmill but I didn't want to because it is very high and the terrain It is quite dangerous so I preferred to admire the mill from a distance! This area in winter is quite humid and outside of the sun it is too cold!🍍🚩
First stop🧭🌄/Primera parada🍍🚩
As we move forward we reach a hill that is less than 100 meters high and here we enter another 3 trails, all of which are circuits that allow us to walk between them either on foot or by bicycle! They are quite hard and some of them require a cane to climb, however the view rewards the effort we see many country houses in the distance and the giant fans decorate the landscape. Additionally, the stones give a mythical touch to the landscape!🚙🚩🍍
Let's continue the adventure🧭🌄/Sigamos la aventura🍍🚩
The landscape becomes more and more interesting and the views are beautiful in addition to the different plants that decorate the landscape with their striking colors, despite it being winter we can see a colorful landscape since Portugal is not at all a very cold country we even see Lots of insects here! I sat down for a while to enjoy the breeze coming from the mountains and reflect a little!🧭🚵♂️🌷🍄
in the magic forest🧭🌄/En el bosque magico 🍍🚩
This is my favorite part of the trail and at this point we are more than 10km into the walk with 2km left to reach our destination! We are within the hills of Lousa where the landscape is virgin and full of different species of plants, some making the winter change and losing their leaves! Here it is interesting to have a picnic because we are more than 150 meters high!🚵♂️🧭
And here my adventure ends in one of the most beautiful views of the Lousa mountain range. At this point I am more than 400 meters high and we can see the valley of the village of Moita! I definitely enjoyed the experience to the fullest and the trail, despite being quite a challenge, is something you have to do if you come to Portugal!🚵♂️🧭
