Summer In Iasi

in #hive-1637722 months ago

It was a summer that I liked. I like summer since childhood and, probably, because of the longest vacation, the summer one, of course.

The summer I'm referring to now was special because I made several trips in the way I like, that is, several trips to the same place. This time in Iasi, one of the most interesting cities in Romania. A city full of spirituality and culture, a city called the cultural capital of Romania.

Iasi, although it is the third in Romania as a number of inhabitants, is not very populated, has almost three hundred thousand inhabitants. Compared to Bucharest, where I live, who has three million inhabitants, Iasi is ten times less populated and this is seen and feels in a pleasant way. The less population has as a consequence and a smaller city, a city where, if you look at the height of a block you can see its edges.

One of my criteria for defining a city that is good to live in is that you must be able to see its edges. In a city like the one where I live, where I can't see where it ends, it makes me feel like I'm lost in a jungle. A jungle of glass and concrete.

Iasi is a city that deserves to be visited. It has glass and concrete, but it also has universities, libraries, theater and opera, botanical garden, parks and malls, palaces and monasteries, but above all churches, over a hundred churches!

In that unforgettable summer, I went to Iasi four times because just once is not enough for me. The first time I notice the places as a recognition, then, the second time I look only for those that I liked more and only in the following trips I get to really enjoy what I see.

Now I will start with the glass and concrete, that is, with a part of the city center that has recently been developed, together with the construction of the mall and the park behind the symbol of the city, the Palace of Culture.

The place is specially designed to be a business area.

Located in the area of Palas Mall, the most beautiful in the city. It's not just my opinion, this building received the award for the most beautiful mall in this part of Europe.

The rest of the buildings, apart from the mall, are office buildings.

The somewhat cold impression given by glass and concrete is changed for the better by the landscape arrangements and ornamental plants, very well chosen.

The mall is composed of two distinct buildings and the connection between them is made by this platform as a multi-story tunnel.

Passing under this footbridge, we have already reached the garden behind the Palace of Culture, which can be seen in the distance.

This business and office campus looks like a small town in the middle of the big city. Everything is new and modern and when I look at the perspective of these streets and buildings I have the impression that I see the drawing from the architect's drawing board.

Again the suspended passage between the mall buildings that I like to look at, in fact it attracts the eyes.

Any city break or short trip in a city becomes tiring because there is not as much time as you need to see as much as possible. In addition to fatigue, there is also hunger. A snack on the run is the best for boosting energy.

And that's how the side walk ended, it was a walk that for now bypassed the Garden of the Palace of Culture, a real attraction of the city.

It is difficult for me to choose the way to describe and tell what I saw and what I liked in Iasi. I can choose a general but superficial presentation of the entire city or I can choose certain smaller but more interesting areas and describe them in as much detail as possible. For now, I have chosen the second option and if I see that it is of interest, then I will continue in the future in the same way.
