St. Martin's Island: Our Journey to the Magical Island.

I tried canva.com to edit this thumbnail.

Saint Martin Island is a small island in the northeastern part of the Bay of Bengal, about 9 km south of the tip of the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf peninsula, and forming the southernmost part of Bangladesh. There is a small adjoining island that is separated at high tide, called Chera Dwip. It is about 8 kilometres west of the northwest coast of Myanmar, at the mouth of the Naf River.

I've been there in St. Martin's Island before, more than once actually but this was the first time I went there taking family along. The family trip actually made the journey magical as you get the best feeling when you have your family around.

There was me with my family, another friend with his mother and lil bro and some more bachelor friends and we visited the island together this time. Let's talk about that magical journey.

Our main journey starts from Teknaf after we start the journey by ship that starts from the Naf River and ends at the Jetty of St. Martin's Island.

In the meantime, we get to enjoy feeding the seagulls that starts following the ships from the starting point towards the open sea. The seagulls amazes the visitors the most on the journey to St. Martin's Island.

Although we shouldn't feed them chips or other junk foods that we usually do as that might make the birds sick. Rather we should carry peas or other birds friendly food if we wish to feed them.

Racing the birds, we get to see the open sea after sometimes and the more we move forward the more we get into the open sea. We get to see the the hills and borders of Myanmar from the ship and then we get to witness hundreds of fishing boats and fishers in the open sea.

It's a caution written in Bengali language which says, "Throwing any waste including plastic/polythene bags/water bottles on the beach is strictly prohibited" and we really should care about this caution, we really should care about our treasure.

This board was at the beach when we were leaving our resort to do fun on the beach.

After reaching the island, at first we booked rickshaws which took us to our previous booked resort. After reaching the resort, I suddenly noticed that I didn't have my bag with me which had my phone gimbal and the go pro that I borrowed from a cousin. I rushed to the Jetty and fortunately I've found the bag untouched beside the hotel where we waited for a beat to take rest.

Some peoples among us already started playing football on the beach and we're excited to see that after we reached the beach after having our lunch. We were full so not everyone went for the fun.

Rather we had fun with the sea water. My family and the mother-brother of my friend were together in the sea when the other peoples went deeper to have deeper fun.

After having fun with the family, we decided to send our family to the resort as they had enough and wanted to change and then we joined others in the deep water and we had much more fun there.

The there came this fascinating scene of sunset. I know not everyone can enjoy the sunrise but enjoying sunset is kinda easy, still I like the sunset scene the most, don't know why.

Sunset and Sunrise in St. Martin's Island has different vibe, I don't know about other islands as I've never been in one than this one. The sunset has this crowdy sounds and vibe when the sunrise is so calm. I actually love both.

Then there came night and the moon started shining on us. It was a full moon as we fixed our trip date following the time of full moon so everything was so clear even at night time because the moon was giving us enough light to see clear night pictures.

And this was our dinner for that night. Yeah, a whole goat for BBQ. The chef there tried hard to BBQ the whole goat at once. But I think it was his first time trying it so he kind of messed up the whole goat and messed up our dinner as well cause the goat was not cooked enough after trying for a lot of times.

We had to have other things for dinner and then we spent the whole night on the beach without sleeping for a single moment. The night seemed so magical. We had the plan to see sunrise after spending the whole night awake. The mother and brother of my friend went to the resort to sleep although the aunt asked us to take her along when we go to see the sunrise.

She was actually so much travel minded. My friend didn't want to mess up her sound sleep so we didn't wake them up, now I wish I'd woken her up cause I won't have this chance for my whole life as she is nor more.

The sunset scene was also magical and the atmosphere was too calm. As it was winter, I brought only winter clothes but I had problems with the clothes once I reached the island so I bought a t-shirt from there. When I was there witnessing the sunrise wearing the t-shirt, I had this soothing feel on my body that calmed both my body and mind.

The moon disappearing
The sun appearing

This is the moment we witnessed both the moon and the sun at the same time. We just had to look behind to watch the moon disappearing and then we could watch the sun appearing looking front.

Ain't this scene fantastic?

Well, we went to the resort after watching the mesmerizing sunrise and we went for a sleep, all of us. After sleeping for around 4 hours maybe, we got up and went to the food hotel to have our breakfast. We had the BBQ goat transformed into curry and other things for breakfast. After the breakfast, we got ready to leave the island.

Once we cross a part of the ocean, we got to see the seagulls again who were kind of welcoming us towards our part and we already passed the noon, so we got the afternoon vibe from the ship on the vast ocean.

There was that ship escaping the seagulls. Can you see the birds behind that ship? There were countless birds there when we had a handful of them beside us a well.

We did not realize when the sun turned red. It began to set on the distant sea shore. And then we reached Teknaf when it was already dark. From there, we went to Cox's Bazar as we planned to stay there for a night.

This was the sea from Cox's Bazar Laboni Beach when we booked a hotel there to stay only the night. Not all of us stayed. Only my family and the friends family stayed there as it was the first visit to that side of that beloved aunt.

The next day, we booked a big sized auto rickshaw for the whole day and we witnessed the mesmerizing beauty of the Marine Drive of Cox's Bazar that leads towards Teknaf after showing some good tourist spots such as Himchori Hill Point, Enani Beach, Patuartek Beach, Mini Bandarban, Fun Fest Point etc.

The aunt and her youngest sun together enjoying the views of Enani Beach and Himchori waterfall. I still can't believe she is no more with us. She left us around one and a half month before. I already said she was a travel-minded lady. She was wishing for another tour before she died even when she was sick and on the bad.

May her soul rest in peach.

This is the jewelries I bought from Cox's Bazar beachside barmis market. I captured these photos after we returned to our place.

Vegetable plant grown with the utmost care of Aunts hands which were climbing out of their kitchen window.

Lat time I visited that house, I noticed the same kinds of vegetable plan was growing on their rooftop but they are missing the upmost care of our beloved Aunt.

We didn't care much when she was alive and around us but now we (some of us) understand how much she meant for us. I wish she was with me now when I was writing this.

St. Martin's Island is still there for us to visit again someday and it was there for us before but unfortunately, we won't have Aunt's company on our trip anymore. We won't get to see her smile again at the time of sunset. We won't get to hear her calling us addressing our own name. She won't ask us to take her along to see the sunrise. She won't be there to have fun with us in the sea.

I didn't forget to add the pinmapple code here in this post and I hope the rules was just to add the code here.
