When I was fortunate enough to have traveled out west, it was under the wrong circumstances. The nature was beautiful, the locations unique, but I wasn't truly able to soak everything in, given that I was doing it all with the wrong person. I look back on these photographs with bittersweet memories...
We had first reached the Alberta border during the early hours of the morning, so we decided to pull off onto the shoulder of the highway, where a rest area was available, and well... rested for the night! 😄
When we awoke, it was under completely different circumstances. The sun was up, and we were surrounded by families of tourists taking pictures of the mountains.
Of course, we took our own photos before taking off, as well as more while traveling in the car. Hard to focus on the road with views like this!...
We had pulled over to take a leak. Even during pee breaks, we were surrounded by the most incredible views! I remember there being a herd of wild horses while we were here, so captivated in the moment that I did not snap a photo. Plus, wild horses are extremely unpredictable, and although we were a fair distance away, always better to be on the alert and ready!
But while camping out there, I happened to wake up to some wild cattle as well -- imagine opening up your tent to discover this! 🤣 Again, while better to be safe than sorry, cattle are a bit more tame than horses (although the bulls still made me nervous 😅). The calves were very cute, and similar to me of them, very curious of my presence!

We stopped in a quiet little town. At the park I happened to notice this little guy having a nap in the hammock, so I quickly took a shot 😄
There was also this crazy trippy-looking house! 🥴 I was blown away by the designs and use of color on the exterior...
While stopped in front of someone's house to look at directions, the owner came out walking down the driveway, cane in hand and dog at his side. The man happened to be extremely friendly, chatted with us for a bit, and his old Alaskan Malamute also seemed to enjoy the company.
In Calgary, we found a bunch of cool little shops. Naturally I took a picture of this store's sign -- a cliché, but you can't deny a sign when you see one!
No idea what the purpose of this bus was; it was covered in graffiti and paint, and was blocked off behind a fence.
These fortune-teller booths were right in front of said bus. Again, no idea what they were for, but they were labeled with weird characters, like The Elf.
I happened to spot this really cool Pikachu car... And if you look off to the left, you will see the boba cafe where I bought a lychee bubble tea 🤤 It was incredibly busy! but the tea was amazing...
I took a photo of this shop's sign, just because I loved the lighting (and it's cats! 🐱). Of course, had I known that this was a cat cafe where you can sit down and dine with real-life kitties, I would have gone in! 😭
That night while camping, we caught sight of a blood moon. We also had to spend that entire evening listening to a bunch of dummies revving their ATVs! 🤬
