I hope you are feeling wonderful this Tuesday. Today I came to share with you a paradisiacal and (most importantly) ecological place: Morro de São Paulo. It is located in the municipality of Cairú, island of the Tinharé archipelago.

It is an obligatory stop if you are walking around Salvador de Bahia or Praia do Forte. In fact the easiest access is from the port of Salvador.

Finding on the networks how to get there or what to do is quite simple honestly, so I want to share with you what surprised me the most when I visited this place, what I liked the most and what I didn't like so much. Let's start!
Espero se encuentren de maravillas este Martes. Hoy vine a compartirles un lugar paradisíaco y (lo más importante) ecológico: Morro de São Paulo.
Se encuentra ubicado en el municipio de Cairú, isla del archipiélago de Tinharé. Puedes observarlo en el mapa de Pinmapple.
Es parada obligatoria si te encuentras paseando por Salvador de Bahia o Praia do Forte. De hecho el acceso más simple es desde el puerto de Salvador.
Encontrar en las redes cómo llegar o qué hacer es bastante sencillo sinceramente, por eso quiero compartirles lo que más me sorprendió al conocer este lugar, qué fue lo que más me gustó y qué fue lo que no me gustó tanto. Empecemos!
Curiosities / Curiosidades
- What was the first thing that surprised me? It is a place free of vehicular traffic! Yes, indeed, there are no cars, imagine a place without air pollution💚. There are "Taxis" that come to fulfill the function of transfer, but only for the suitcases, you will have to walk. It is a person, who with his wheelbarrow and for a modest sum of reais, transports your luggage to your lodging. Believe me it is super necessary, it would not have been an easy task for me to carry the bags to the third beach with those ups and downs.
- And speaking of the third beach, another curious fact is that Morro is divided into 5 main beaches, each with its own personality. The first one is usually used for water sports, the second one is the queen of nights, the third one has mostly accommodations, and the fourth and fifth are the paradise of the place (the fifth beach has the nickname of Playa del Encanto).
- I will be honest, it is a place to disconnect, my recommendation is a stay of 2 to 3 days where you can visit all the beaches, some beachfront restaurants and a small shopping center. Then you get bored, unless you are super stressed and need a prolonged retreat.
- The most beautiful: The fourth and fifth beaches are like natural pools with crystal clear water, warm and without waves, the sand is white, and there are almost no people (a luxury in these times). The only way to get there is walking if the tide is low, or otherwise on horseback, which helps you cross through some puddles.
- What I liked the least: This is a super personal and contradictory appreciation in fact: the place is full of Argentines, and although I love my country, when I decide to travel to another, frankly I prefer to immerse myself in their culture, listen to their language and eat their food. I was disappointed to feel like I was walking the streets of Buenos Aires, listening to Spanish being spoken and eating a milanesa instead of Coxinhas de Frango, not to detract from either of my two favorite dishes.
Most of the restaurants are located on beach 2, facing the sea. Very romantic by the way.
¿Qué fue lo primero que me sorprendió? Es un lugar libre de tránsito vehicular! Sí, efectivamente no hay autos, imagina un lugar sin contaminación en el aire💚. Solo hay "Taxis" que vienen a cumplir la función de traslado, más solo para las maletas, a ti te tocará caminar. Se trata de una persona, quién con su carretilla y por una modesta suma de reales, te transporta tus maletas hasta el alojamiento. Créeme que es súper necesario, no hubiese sido tarea fácil para mí, cargar con las maletas hasta la tercera playa con esas subidas y bajadas.
Y hablando de la tercera playa, otro dato curioso es que el Morro está dividido en 5 playas principales, cada una con su personalidad. En la primera suelen practicarse deportes acuáticos, la segunda es la reina de las noches, la tercera tiene mayormente alojamientos, y la cuarta y quinta son el paraíso del lugar (la quinta playa tiene bien puesto el apodo de Playa del Encanto).
Voy a serte sincera, es un lugar para desconectar, mi recomendación es una estadía de 2 a 3 días donde podrás recorrer todas las playas, algunos restaurantes frente al mar y su pequeño centro comercial. Ya luego te aburres, a no ser que estés súper estresado y necesites un retiro prolongado.
Lo más lindo: La cuarta y quinta playa, son como piscinas naturales con agua cristalina, caliente y sin olas, la arena es blanca, y casi no hay personas (un lujo en estos tiempos). La única manera de llegar es caminando si la marea está baja, o de lo contrario a caballo, que te ayuda a cruzar por algunos charcos.
Lo que menos me gustó: Esta es una apreciación súper personal y contradictoria de hecho: el lugar está repleto de argentinos, y si bien amo mí país, cuando decido viajar a otro, francamente prefiero sumergirme en su cultura, escuchar su lenguaje y comer sus comidas. Me decepcionó sentir que estaba caminando por las calles de Buenos Aires, escuchando hablar en español y comiendo una milanesa en lugar de Coxinhas de Frango, sin desmerecer ninguno de mis dos platos favoritos.
Anyway, no matter how much I tell you, it is a place to discover on your own, each person experiences it differently and that is its magic. I hope you can visit it someday!
