Hello Hive :D!!

As the title says today I’m bringing you a piece of heaven on earth. If you didn’t know, Žumberak - nestled in the breathtaking Croatian countryside is a beautiful mountain area about an hour away from Zagreb, right on the border with Slovenia. It’s part of the Žumberak-Samoborsko Gorje Nature Park, and it’s honestly one of my favorite places it offers a magical retreat, especially during winter. My dad’s from here, so we have a week house in the area, and we try to come as often as we can to recharge out batteries, because life in town isn’t everything except slow.

We arrived today and were greeted by 20 cm of fresh snow. It’s absolutely stunning! The snow wasn’t the best for a snowball fight or sledding, but it was perfect for walking around and taking in the beauty of nature. Everything was covered in this soft white blanket—it was so quiet and peaceful, you could hear your own thoughts. The snow blanketed everything in sight, creating a true winter wonderland!

The Žumberak region is steeped in history, with traces of human settlement dating back to prehistoric times. In the medieval period, the area was part of a borderland that protected the Kingdom of Croatia from Ottoman incursions. Today, it’s a haven for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike.

For those that enjoy exploring, Žumberak offers plenty of well marked hiking trails! Near our house, there’s the Poučna Staza: Izvori Života (Educational Trail: Springs of Life), which showcases the region’s rich biodiversity and natural springs. Just a five-minute drive away is the Staza Kneževa (Trail of the Princes), a scenic path that weaves through stunning landscapes while offering glimpses into the area’s cultural history. And since rally is always on my mind I must mention that some of the special stages of WRC Croatia Rally go side by side with the trail!😁

The winter weather in Žumberak is cold, but nothing a crackling kamin (fireplace) can’t fix! We’ve been sitting by “kamin” and staying warm. If you’re anywhere near Žumberak, you should definitely visit. The peacefulness here is unmatched, and the snow covered woods feels like stepping into a fairytale.

If you’re near the area or want to explore something new I highly recommend paying a visit. Žumberak offers it all. Wrap up warmly, lace up your boots, and take in the crisp mountain air while enjoying the snow. Winter truly transforms Žumberak into a magical wonderland that deserves to be experienced

As a person who lives in a tropical country, it is my dream to experience snow even just once in my life. It sounds funny, but it’s true 🤣. Anyway, the pictures you’ve taken are nice and amazing!

Not at all! I understand your feelings and wishes :D! The best way to describe snow is that’s it’s similar to sand but cold🤣. I hope your dream will come true soon 🙏🏻

Thank you :)!!!
