One day in Prague: Golden lane, Prague Castle and Waldstain garden

in #hive-16377211 months ago

During our stay in Prague, we chose a beautiful and sunny day to visit Prague Castle.

We climbed the old stairs to the castle.
As the length of the staircase is long, we took frequent breaks and admired the panorama of Prague.

The first thing we saw when we entered the Prague Castle was a large, beautiful cathedral of the St.Vita.
We took advantage of a beautiful sunny day to photograph this cathedral in the Gothic style, the construction of which began in 1344...

The interior of the cathedral is magnificent. It doesn't seem that big from the outside because it is surrounded by walls and castle buildings, but when you enter the cathedral, you realize how big it is.

When we finished the tour of the cathedral, we headed to the Castle.
In the castle, we toured the large hall where knightly games and court balls were held.

The rooms where the kings, princes and princesses lived, the royal throne, crown and scepter, the library, and the room with the coats of arms of the royal dynasties and nobles was particularly interesting.

The recommendation we received when we were planning our visit to Prague was that when visiting the Prague Castle, we must visit the Golden lane.

Golden lane is one narrow street, full of mini-galleries where there are displays where we can see what life was like for people in the 16th till 19th century. The life and lifestyle of the Prague servants and craftsmen who served the royal family.

There was even a cinema there

At the end of Golden lan there is a large crossbow as well as the entrance to the first floor of buildings, whose entire length stretches a gallery with 15th and 16th century weapons.

Armors, swords, knives, guns, aut also and some torture devices..

Although deadly, this weapon delighted us with its beautiful workmanship and engraved decorations. like little art exhibits...

When we finished the tour of the gallery with weapons, we entered the Daliborka tower.

20180514_142732.jpg

20180514_144840.jpg

Daliborka is a tower located at the end of Golden lane, and it was a prison in the past.
The exhibits we saw in the Tower froze our blood in our veins.
In this Tower, there was not only a prison, but also a real torture chamber.

We didn't stay long in this tower because the atmosphere is not very pleasant.

We went down the old stairs again and found ourselves in the beautiful Waldstain garden.

We enjoyed this garden and in the end managed to put the images we saw in the Daliborka Tower out of our heads.
A garden with a lake where fish swim, statues, peacocks and ducks are more pleasing to the eye than the dark walls of the Prague Castle, which still carries the coldness of life in the 16th century.

Thank you for stopping by my post and I hope you enjoyed the photos and the story I shared with you

What a busy day you had here in Prague! :)

That day we also added 300 steps to the top of the Petrin Tower.
If we hadn't taken the tram/cable car, we would have died from fatigue 🙂

That all combined is like a half marathon :)

I believe.
You, as a resident of Prague, know better than me how much of a walk it is 🙂
I didn't look at the pedometer that day😁

Prague is amazing (I say this because we also visited Prague a few years ago) and yes I could see that in your post.

Magical city.
Didn't the Disney studio take the details of the domes of the cathedral in the center of the city as a model for the castles in their movies? For fairy tales...

I don't know what to say about what Disney is doing😉

Beautiful photo story from Prague, @duskobgd 👏

Dear @barbaraj, Prague is such a beautiful city, so the pictures can be just that, beautiful, wherever you point the lens 🙂

the place looks really amazing, the architecture is so beautiful, I was really amazed to see every corner of it.

The castle, the cathedral and the garden, beauty wherever you look😊
