Hello #hive and #travel lovers..
Hey there...! Are you ready to continue our adventure in Sabang? Can you remind me where we are exactly today?"
Yups.... Our first destination is Rubiah Island. First, let me tell you briefly about this island. Well, in the long history of this island, before this island became famous for its fantastic sea tourism now, it turns out that many people did not know that Rubiah Island was a historic place, especially for Muslims, especially because it became the first quarantine center for Hajj pilgrims in Indonesia, precisely in 1920. Everyone heading to Mecca will first undergo quarantine for one month on the island.
To go to this island, you have to use a speed boat, and you will be provided with security facilities while on the boat. The close distance to the mainland is not something that is considered easy for tourism managers here. Safety is the most important thing here. One of the things they worry about is that many visitors cannot swim and panic, even though they are wearing life jackets. The distance from land is only about five to ten minutes.
What's interesting about this island is the underwater view. You can easily see the underwater scenery here. The sea fish will surround you and will approach you if you bring food for them. This is certainly a good attraction and an opportunity for managers to provide snorkeling equipment and underwater cameras. Unfortunately, I was so engrossed in the view and diving here and there that I didn't think to take a picture. But that's natural because the underwater charm will hypnotize you. Well, you should also know that the diving area on this island is limited. This is to facilitate monitoring by the guards on this island.
In 2003, I visited this island for community service as one of my final assignments on campus. However, at that time, only wooden ships were available, and the numbers were also small. But nowadays, as you can see, there are lots of sophisticated and fast-speed boats, adequate personal safety equipment, and clear guidelines from the captain on what you can and cannot do.
We deliberately came to this island in the afternoon; apart from taking the time to see the beautiful marine park, we also planned to wait for the sunset at this place. The appearance of the sunset in this place is not very beautiful. Moreover, the appearance of the sunset is a sign that you have to leave this place immediately. Why? Maghrib time is the time limit for being in this place. This has been determined by legal regulations issued by local communities and the government. I think that's good because the "virginity" of this island is maintained. Enjoy it in moderation, and don't do it too often or too much because it will make you bored.
How are the facilities here? Over time, the development of the facilities here has also been very good. Let me tell you first about the food and drink providers here. The activity of swimming in the sea, as I often experience and others do, is an energy-draining activity. The feeling of hunger becomes worse after you swim. This opportunity is well utilized by the people here. They have opened many shops selling coffee and fresh coconut, as well as snacks such as fried foods. This is also the case for photographers; they kindly persuade visitors to take selfies or have their photos taken by photographers here. Photos are proof that memories exist. Is that true?
The sky was starting to get dark, a sign that we had to leave this island by renting a boat to get to the other side for 250 thousand rupiah per boat. The million beauties of the underwater park continued to accompany our journey home. Hopefully, this will continue for the next generation.
