Hello Hive community, as some already know, we have lived in Uruguay for almost three years, my girlfriend @carlagonz and I traveled together in August 2019 to start a new life in another country due to the difficult situation in our country of origin, our The land trip began in the city of Maracay, crossing half of Venezuela, and then entering Brazil and traveling to the city of Manaus, where we would take a flight to Montevideo.

The total trip began on August 16 and ended on August 21, between buses and planes we were 5 on the trip.

During that trip we walked along the land border between Brazil and Venezuela, today I come to tell you about my experience, although it could be a little outdated due to the date on which it was made.

Leaving the San Felix terminal we planned to arrive at the border at 6 in the morning but the bus broke down and we ended up crossing the border control after noon, the Venezuelan guards did not make much of a problem in passing, you can pass with an ID or passport thanks to Mercosur agreements.

On the Brazilian side, we had to obtain an entry permit to Brazil, although in our case it was quite fast because our permit was transit and not residence, a tip is that in the red cross tent you have the right to a call 3-minute hospitalization in which you can call a family member since from the middle of the trip there is no telephone signal.

In all the border point we have a great monument with quite large waving flags of both countries and flags painted in the lower part of said place, on these painted flags we find two busts, from the Brazilian side PEDRO I (the first emperor and the first head of state for Brazil) and on the Venezuelan side we have Simón Bolívar (maximum hero of Venezuelan independence).

This is usually a tourist spot, since it is very close to Santa Elena de Uairen and usually people who visit the Brazilian side (Pacaraima) or travel through the great Savannah pass through this place to be photographed.

Although the road border post is on the road where this monument is located, there are more than 2000 km that link both countries and border control throughout that vast majority of nature territory must be a difficult job.

The illegal trade in metals and precious stones is very common, even to the point that on the Venezuelan side there are food stores that accept part of the payment in gold, as they are heard, they weigh the amount of gold you have and quote you at the price of day to give you a total cost of the gold piece in relation to the price of the product.

On the Brazilian side, the currency exchange trade is very precarious, while we were walking with the suitcases, people approached us to offer us different prices of Reais for dollars or bolivars, it is a bit dangerous but you get a better price with those who are on the street who in exchange house within Brazil.
