Last weekend, we went on a trip to Wimpole Estate in England. It's a big place in Cambridgeshire known for its huge old house in the Palladian style, a large working farm, and beautiful gardens.
The house was built around 1640, and it's now managed by the National Trust. You can visit it, and sometimes they have various events and shows, like historical displays with flying Spitfire planes.
Inside the estate, there's a fenced-off garden covering 4.9 acres (2 hectares) - one of the biggest gardens in England. You can see lots of flowers, vegetables, and fruits there. Inside the garden, there are Victorian greenhouses where they grow exotic fruits like pineapples.
Besides the gardens, there's also a farm on the estate where they raise rare types of pigs, cows, goats, sheep, and horses. You can buy farm products at a shop on the estate.
In the heart of Wimpole Estate, you'll find Wimpole Hall. Inside its rooms, there's a collection of paintings, furniture, and sculptures from different times, as well as a library with many valuable and rare books.
Our trip to Wimpole Estate was very enjoyable. The kids loved the animals and gardens, and as usual, we were impressed by the grand house.
We'll definitely go back there again.
