Fort Santiago is one of the most historical places in the Philippines. This is where our national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal was exiled before he got executed in Bagumbayan (Luneta Park). It was built in 1571 by the Spaniards.

Me and my officemates had an Intramuros tour last Sunday and we decided to visit Fort Santiago as well. The last time I saw this was when I was young, like seven years of age. I can still recall the places we visited when I was young but for the meantime let us focus of what you can see around Fort Santiago on present time.

If you are looking for a place to unwind and you can stay for longer hours, this place is for you. It is full of green grass and trees. My eyes, which is always tired get a good rest looking at the greenery around it. There is also a man singing love song and serenading every visitors that comes around.

It is a picture friendly place where you can pose around and share it on your social media. I personally imagine the time when the Spaniards were here in our country because the ruins reminded me of what it looks like during the war. I can even feel the amount of devastation.

Look below pictures of what you will see in Fort Santiago.

This does not include the Jose Rizal Shrine as I will make a new article about that on different community.

After the long walk and being busy strolling around Casa Manila, I get a good rest in one of the seats there. The air, although I know is already polluted, (because it is situated in the Metro) it still refreshes me. We even played around and made a 30 degree photo. The ambiance is really good. It gives a good energy for heart and soul. I think I only said that because I am one with nature.

Above is my favorite place there. It is the inside of Rajah Sulayman Theatre. During Spanish time, they are watching performance there. I think I had a picture in the place. It looks creepy but it is simply beautiful. I just hate that when I captured the photo, a picture of a building being structured will be very visible. It ruins the scenic view indeed.

Moreover, I am with all pride that generation of today will able to see this. I am glad that the goverent and private people decided to preserve it. One that could benefit a lot are the students that will be studying History as some of the events are happen exactly where the ruins are located. This will give them an idea to what happened in the past.

Since there lots of foreigners too, I recommend visiting this place to tourist as they will learn more the part of our history.

All images are mine.
