A walk through the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, enjoying a good old session of rubber necking. Let us for now leave the touristy stuff and attempt to brighten your day with some of the more interesting (well to me anyways) snaps I took on the morning.
The Barcelona Cathedral and its permanent residents have been around for many centuries, the Cathedral was built between the 13th and 15th centuries
There are in the region of 200 gargoyles most of them were for the purpose of sending the rainwater into the streets away from the fabric of the building. Others were carved and mounted to act as decoration
Many of the sculptors with over active imaginations who designed them were trying to capture in them their fears and superstitions and to scare the populous below of the creatures that awaited them in hades if they didn't bow to the child god.
There are also many creatures of the earth both real and mystical: dragons, eagles, lions, dogs, pigs, sheep, unicorns, created to ward off evil spirits.
Are you ready? Hey
Are you ready for this?

Damn good effigies!
I would hesitate to say "jumping on the Gaudi band wagon", simply because I appreciate the art in the figures and at 3.5k euros a piece of treasure for the future.
Further fun figures to entice you to buy a figure of your "trade craft"
