Yesterday was a beautiful day, with the sun shining, and not a cloud in the sky. Rather than waste the day doing work, I thought I'd get out and enjoy the day.
I drove across Exmoor National Park, which is a beautiful place at anytime of year, and headed for Tarr Steps, a section of the River Barle where a ford and clapper bridge crosses the river. Recent flooding had unfortunately washed away part of the bridge, although should be rebuilt soon.
I had to take the opportunity to enjoy my first outside beer of the year at the Tarr Farm Inn, which was enjoyed amongst lovely views of the valley.
Later I drove back towards home, stopping off to see the wild Exmoor ponies, that enjoy the freedom of the moors to explore, before heading to Simonsbath, and a walk through the woods to appreciate the trees that line the side of the valley.
The day was completed with a refreshment stop at Blackmoor Gate, to celebrate the end of a well-enjoyed distraction from work. I hope you enjoy a few pictures from my day out...
