I finally visited La Colonia Tovar, a place I had always wanted to go since I was a child but it was when I grew up that I was able to do it and it was a great experience of two days and one night in this German colony in Venezuela.
This trip was my birthday present and also because it is already a custom for me to travel at the beginning of the year to start the year as it should, from another place, another climate, other people, other customs, other landscapes and do all the catharsis possible to start the year well and in search of better things.
Visite por fin La Colonia Tovar, un lugar que siempre había querido ir desde pequeño pero fue de grande que lo pude hacer y fue una gran experiencia de dos días y una noche en esta Colonia Alemana en Venezuela.
Este viaje fue mi auto regalo por mi cumpleaños y también porque es para mi ya una costumbre viajar a principios de año para comenzar el año como se debe, desde otro lugar, otro clima, otra gente, otras costumbres, otros paisajes y hacer toda la catarsis posible para comenzar el año bien y en busca de mejores cosas.
It was a journey to get there, for those who don't know I live in Yaracuy and almost everything is a bit far away, talking about big cities. Yaracuy is a small state, where everything is relatively close, except the Aroa, but everything else is. Leaving Yaracuy for the city of Maracay and then to La Victoria was a bit cumbersome because there are no direct cars to Maracay and it would be even better, direct to La Colonia but no, the terminals nationwide do not offer that and almost all these direct transfers are made by local or national tour companies with departure in their base states.
Colonia Tovar has a lot of history and is quite curious as well, located in the state of Aragua, founded on April 8, 1843 by a group of German immigrants coming from the Grand Duchy of Baden, a place that was a historical state in the southwest of Germany.
Colonia Tovar is famous in Venezuela for its culture and mild climate. Its main source of income is tourism, but it also has income from agriculture, where temperate climate crops such as peaches, strawberries, beets, cauliflower, carrots, cabbage, chard, broccoli, lettuce, scallions and potatoes stand out. It is located 65.5 km west of Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, at an altitude of almost 2,000 meters above sea level.
Salir de Yaracuy para la cuidad de Maracay y después a La Victoria fue un poco engorroso porque no hay carros directos a Maracay y que seria mejor aún, directo a La Colonia pero no, los terminales a nivel nacional no ofrecen eso y casi todo esos traslados directo lo hacen empresas de turismo locales o nacionales con salida en sus estados de base.
La Colonia Tovar tiene mucha historia y es bastante curiosa también, ubicada en el estado Aragua, fundada el 8 de abril de 1843 por un grupo de inmigrantes alemanes provenientes de Gran Ducado de Baden, lugar que fue un estado histórico en el suroeste de Alemania.
La Colonia Tovar es famosa en Venezuela por su cultura y por su clima templado. Su fuente de ingresos principalmente es el turismo, pero también tiene ingresos de la agricultura donde destacan cultivos de clima templado como duraznos, fresas, remolacha, coliflor, zanahoria, repollo, acelga, brócoli, lechuga, cebollín y papas. Está ubicada a 65,5 km al oeste de Caracas, capital de Venezuela y a una altitud de casi 2.000 metros sobre el nivel del mar.
Apart from the trip, when I arrived all that was erased from my mind, I loved the landscapes, the weather, the structures, the roads, the places, the vibe of all the places, the people and so on.
The climate of La Colonia Tovar was the first thing I fell in love with when I arrived, coming from a very hot climate and with a very uncomfortable humidity, but still I love my city of San Felipe, only that its climate is something that I do not identify with, but La Colonia has a spectacular climate, a delicious cold, comfortable and pleasant.
Sacando lo del viaje, al llegar todo eso se borró de mi mente, ame los paisajes, ame el clima, ame las estructuras, los caminos, los lugares, la vibra de todo los sitios, la gente y demás.
El clima de La Colonia Tovar fue lo primero que me enamoro al llegar, al venir de un clima bastante caluroso y con una humedad bastante incomoda, pero aun así amo mi cuidad de San Felipe, solo que su clima es algo de la cual no me identifico ya, pero La Colonia tiene un clima espectacular, un frio delicioso, cómodo y agradable.
On the first day I loved walking through the center of the city, eating their typical food, drinking their craft beer (one of many) which I loved, unfortunately I couldn't drink more because I was taking medicine. I really enjoyed being in its iconic church and its surroundings during the day and spending the night too, under the stars and at 9ºc, it was a great experience to be at night in the center of La Colonia Tovar.
The first pictures you saw were taken inside the Hotel Selva Negra, a place I had not in mind to visit, but it was worth following the advice of a friend, and what a beautiful place! and from that hotel to the church was a walk quite close and then to eat, drink something and many more things, and everything was quite close during that first day.
Amé recorrer en el primer día el centro de la cuidad, comer su plato típico, tomar su cerveza artesanal (una de muchas) que me encanto, lastimosamente no pude tomar mas porque estaba tomando medicinas. Me gusto muchísimo estar en su icónica iglesia y sus alrededores de día y pasar la noche también, bajo las estrellas y a 9ºc, fue una gran experiencia estar de noche en el centro de La Colonia Tovar.
Las primeras fotos que vieron fueron tomadas dentro del Hotel Selva Negra, un lugar que no tenia en mente para visitar, pero valió la pena seguir en consejo de una amiga, y que lugar ¡tan hermoso! y de ese hotel a la iglesia fue un paseo en caminata bastante cerca y después a comer, tomar algo y muchas cosas más, y todo fue bastante cerca durante ese primer día.
I loved the weather at night and I loved my awakening, the sound of the birds, seeing the moon and the sunrise connecting and at the same time separating was the best of the best, I had never felt so happy to see such majesty.
I was told something curious, in the colony people, locals and others do not have activities in the early hours of the morning, people wake up late and they are right because with that weather does not cause wake up early and because the strongest tourist activities are from Thursday to Sunday, so the first days of the week are "quiet".
Amé en clima en la noche y amé mi despertar, el sonido de las aves, ver la luna y ese amanecer conectadose y a la vez separándose fue lo mejor de lo mejor, nunca me había sentido tan feliz al ver tanta majestuosidad.
Me comentaron algo curioso, en la colonia las personas, locales y demás no tiene actividades a primeras horas de la mañana, la gente se despierta tarde y tiene mucha razón porque con ese clima no provoca despertarse temprano y porque las actividades turistas de mas fuerza son desde el jueves hasta el domingo, entonces los primeros días de la semana son "tranquilos".
I woke up as you already know very well, made coffee and as I enjoyed drinking that specialty coffee of Colonia Tovar, I quickly showered and got ready to go back down to the center and start the tour to all those iconic and new places of Colonia Tovar that is open for tourists.
Desperté como ya saben muy bien, hice café y como disfruté tomarme ese café de especialidad de la colonia tovar, me duche rápidamente y me aliste para volver a bajar para el centro y empezar el recorrido a todos esos lugares icónicos y nuevos de la colonia tovar que tiene abierto para los turistas.
I visited different places, from the brewery to Chocolatico, the quality of the craft beers of Colonia Tovar is unmatched by anything I've tried so far, I loved the grape beer, peach beer and my favorite Clemence, I recommend it if you get to go.
Going to the colony and not eating strawberries with cream is like not going and obviously I did it and I really enjoyed doing it at Chocolatico where I also ate the handmade chocolates and great variety that they have for sale for every curious tourist like me.
Visite diferentes lugares, desde la Cervecería hasta Chocolatico, la calidad de las cervezas artesanales de la colonia tovar no tienen comparación con nada de lo que he probado hasta ahora, me encanto la cerveza de uva, de durazno y mi favorita la Clemence, se las recomiendo si llegan a ir.
Ir a la colonia y no comer fresas con crema es como no ir y obviamente lo hice y me gusto muchísimo hacerlo en Chocolatico donde también comí los chocolates artesanales y gran variedad que allí tiene a la venta para cada turista curioso como yo.
As you can see, I also visited the Hydrangea Garden, the plan was to visit it at a time without so much sun exposure but well it was not possible, but still I could see all this garden and be amazed by the amount of these beautiful flowers in one place.
Como ven, también visite el Jardín de las Hortensias, el plan era visitarlo en un horario sin tanta exposición solar pero bueno no se pudo, pero aun así pude ver todo este jardín y estar maravillado por la cantidad que hay de estas hermosas flores en un solo sitio.
If you see me looking at the sun in this picture it is because I was really trying to measure how long a cloud would pass so I could take a good picture and that it wouldn't come out with so much exposure and the colors wouldn't look so burnt and I wouldn't look so black either. In the end I couldn't do it the way I wanted to do it but the pictures were still very good.
Si me ven mirando al sol en esta foto es porque de verdad estaba tratando de medir en cuanto tiempo pasaba una nube para poder hacerme una buena foto y que no saliera con tanta exposición y los colores no se vieran tan quemados y bueno yo no me viera tan negro tampoco. Al final no lo pude hacer como quería pero igual quedaron muy bien las fotografías allí.
I had never had contact with a goat and I had always wanted to do it, I did not hesitate to do it as soon as I could in one of the stops of the route that had a small exhibition, it was something that I also enjoyed although I had filled me with a lot of hair and almost left me without pants, but I did not care.
Nunca había tenido contacto con una cabras y siempre había querido hacerlo, no dude en hacerlo apenas pude en una de las paradas del recorrido que tenia una pequeña exposición, fue algo que también lo disfrute aunque me había llenado bastante de pelo y casi me dejan sin pantalón, pero no me importo.

Without a doubt, I liked everything about this trip and I think it showed, I really liked each of the places and sites I visited, their food, their drinks, their climate, their culture, their organization, their way of life and of course I would come back, I hope to come back soon and stay longer to enjoy more.
Sin duda alguna, me gusto todo de este viaje y creo que se noto, me gusto mucho cada uno de sus lugares y sitios que visite, sus comida, sus bebidas, su clima, su cultura, su organización, su manera de vivir y por supuesto volvería, espero volver pronto y quedarme más tiempo para disfrutar más.
I didn't want to go back, to be honest, the trip back took forever and I suffered a lot with the heat on the way back, but well, as I said I hope to come back soon and enjoy more, also to know other places that I couldn't visit, drink more beer, eat more Polish sausage and strawberries with cream, hot chocolate and coffee watching the sunrise.
No me quería devolver, siendo sinceros se me hizo eterno el viaje de regreso y sufrí mucho con el calor al regresarme, pero bueno, como dije espero volver pronto y disfrutar mas, conocer también otros lugares que no pude visitar, tomar mas cerveza, comer más salchicha polaca y fresas con crema, chocolate caliente y café viendo el amanecer.
