In these days, I am creating several posts about various places that I consider very important in my region, both from a naturalistic and historical point of view. What I am going to introduce to you today is a lake that is a beautiful point of interest from a naturalistic perspective, but I must say it is also very historical because this artificial lake was created back in 1954 when a dam was built on the Brenta River.
Essentially, this lake is located between the provinces of Belluno and Trento, and we are immersed in an important park, the Belluno Dolomites National Park. We can confidently say that even though it was created artificially, it is situated in a beautiful position among the mountains, making it a very picturesque place.
Moreover, being a mountain lake, its waters are very clean and crystal clear, surrounded by lush vegetation. Naturally, in the surrounding areas, you can go hiking as there are many trails and outdoor activities to enjoy.
As you can see, especially in a photo that I have shared, this lake is very popular among water sports enthusiasts, particularly for windsurfing and sailing when there is wind. It is also possible to fish in the lake as I have been told that there are many fish species.
If you visit this lake, I recommend exploring the nearby picturesque towns such as Arsiè and Feltre, which also provide the opportunity to discover the traditional architecture typical of these Italian mountain villages.
From the photos, you can also see a beautiful and sturdy bridge that crosses the lake, creating a scenic spot where you can certainly take stunning photos.
Overall, I consider Lake Corlo a fascinating and peaceful place, ideal for spending a day of relaxation surrounded by nature or engaging in outdoor sports activities. I hope to have the opportunity to go boating here someday as it is possible to rent rowing boats nearby to explore the calm waters of the lake and enjoy the surrounding landscape.
During the summer, the lake hosts various cultural events and often organizes musical performances and food and wine festivals, providing tourists with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local culture and enjoy a festive atmosphere.
