Hello dear friends,
Today, in this post, I want to take you on a virtual journey with me to discover this important historic palace located in the city of Verona, Italy, right in the historic center, in front of the famous Piazza Erbe.
In the first photo, you can see this palace called Palazzo Maffei in all its splendor, built in the 17th century by the Maffei family, one of the most important and influential families in Verona at the time. Today, this place has become very important, especially for those who are lovers of art and culture. Inside, a beautiful path has been set up to see an extraordinary art collection that spans about two thousand years of history. Of course, these collections have been enriched over time, not only by the Maffei family but also by other families that have succeeded as owners of the palace. It's quite rare to find such a vast collection in Italy.
I had already been inside this museum at its inauguration, which unfortunately took place a few months before the 2020 pandemic. Fortunately, in 2021, it reopened to the public and is always open, except on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 10:00 to 18:00. In my opinion, it's a must-visit for anyone in Verona, even just for the panoramic view of the city.
In the past year, the top floor was also inaugurated, offering the opportunity to go up to the terrace for a beautiful panoramic view of the city. Unfortunately, when I was there, it was closed for maintenance, but it's usually open and accessible to tourists. So, don't miss this part of the palace, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view.
I must say that it was a great experience for me because, as I mentioned earlier, I had been there when it was inaugurated and not completely open to the public; it was still a work in progress. Now, with the inauguration of the top floor and the terrace, it has become a true gem of the city of Verona. Inside, there's also a work by Hokusai, which is something I hadn't seen around Italy before. I'm a big fan of his art.
If any of you are interested in learning more about Verona, I will probably publish a walking tour on my YouTube channel once I've finished editing the video.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I hope I've provided you with useful information, and I hope you enjoyed the photos. Until next time, dear readers!
