There is a famous market in the center of Ho Chi Minh City which is often visited by tourists or local residents, namely Benh Thanh Market. This market is one of the oldest markets in Ho Chi Minh City which is famous for its flow in selling various types of cheap souvenirs in Ho Chi Minh City, so if you are looking for souvenirs to take home, then Banh Thanh is the right solution for you to visit immediately at the end your traveling trip in Ho Chi Minh City.

If you go here, you will easily find public transportation or use the existing grab/taxi. Just mention Benh Thanh Market, you will never get lost. This area is quite large and consists of many facilities that you can use. For example, if you are looking for foreign exchange or a money changer, there are lots of them here. This market is one of the largest trading centers in Ho Chi Minh City.

Even though the weather in Ho Chi Minh City is very hot, you don't need to be afraid to enjoy shopping, because it is facilitated by a closed room. Even if you don't use air conditioning, there are several fans in every shop that can freshen the air inside. There are lots of shops in Benh Thanh Market, if you are looking for whatever you need, it will definitely be in this market.

Starting from fashion, keychains, wallets, bags, fabrics, souvenirs, snacks and typical Vietnamese coffee are here. Of course, at a very affordable price compared to buying at a big mall. I suggest you bid 50% of the price offered so you can save more, because here you can still bargain according to the agreement. But there are some parts that have fixed prices so you can't offer more.

Benh Thanh Market is really very large, I think there are hundreds of shops here, consisting of several of the same shops and some even sell the same products. Make sure you choose items that suit your wishes. Please be careful not to break some items as some shops sell breakables, which means if you break it you are buying.

I bought several t-shirts and also a key chain which we got at a super cheap price. I compared several prices here so I'm not easily fooled. Apart from selling souvenirs, there are also several street foods that sell food such as banh mi, pho, Vietnamese coffee and others.

Benh Thanh Market is quite busy with visitors, tourists and local residents. The epic thing is, there are people here who can speak Malay/Indonesian, so some Malaysian Indonesian tourists definitely like to communicate with the sellers. Many of them have difficulty speaking English, but still understand body language or even when referring to prices, they will type numbers into the calculator they have to tell you the total expenditure you have made.

Although it is not as big as Pratunam Market but it is a wise choice for shopping in Ho Chi Minh City. I suggest buying some keychains and also a really cute woven bag. There are also some very unique Vietnamese clothes, but the prices are too expensive for the materials used. Even if you're crowded or if you don't buy the product, I recommend experiencing the experience. You can learn about the habits of local Vietnamese people.

Come to Benh Thanh Market in the afternoon or when the weather is not hot, because if you easily feel hot then Benh Thanh won't make you feel comfortable. The density of visitors even on weekends makes this place even busier. Occasionally try to buy some food, street food on the other side at Benh Thanh Market. Be careful of getting scammed too, even though it looks very safe, there are some people who even complain that there are lots of scams in this area.

So, have you had any experience at Benh Thanh Market? Let me know in the comment section!

Thankyou 😀

I remember walking to this market and I had to cross the road, the traffic was crazy (countless motorbikes) and when she saw me hesitating an old lady took pity and walked me across the street 😂

Btw, you should check out @travelfeed for your next travel posts!

The traffic making me crazy, but its a culture and make me understand why. Vietnam made me learn a lot. 😃
