Hello there Hivers, hope everyone is doing well. For this content, I will be sharing Dalaguete's hidden treasure, I suppose most Hivers from Cebu knew already or heard about the town of Dalaguete, with its famous tourist attractions which foreign and local tourists keep on coming back for. Truly, the town of Dalaguete has many to offer from their white sand Dalaguete Beach Park to their famous Osmeña Peak which is the highest peak of the entire island of Cebu wherein most hikers and campers are fond to climb because of its trail going up and the astonishing scenery when you're on the top.
Well, aside from those attractions mentioned there is this one attraction that is believed to be the last stop of every tourist who happens to visit Dalaguete the Obong Spring, named after the place where it is located the village of Obong. Obong Spring is a cool freshwater spring that came from underneath a century-old Dalakit tree that somehow creates a pool of water with an average deep and a wide area for anyone to swim.
This is the first scenery you see as you set foot in the spring, with its blue freshwater which will surely invite you to swim.
As the weather bureau of the Philippines officially declares the summer season I think the Obong spring is one of the perfect places to get into to beat the summer heat. As you can see in these photos there are a lot of people dipping in the spring likely to get cool down from the warm weather.
A lot of people of all ages went dipping on that day and as I talked to the authorities who managed the Obong Spring they told me that they will close the Spring during Tuesdays as it is their clean up day of the spring and one of their reason why Tuesday is that they notice that during Tuesday is the only day of the week where fewer people goes to the spring.
There are also cottages for visitors to rent which are priced at 500 pesos that can accommodate up to 10 to 15 people. Aside from cottages, there are a few tables with breach umbrellas that you can choose from that will only accommodate 2-3 people which were priced half of the cottages.
As you can see the century old Dalakit tree can be clearly seen on the other side of the spring, wherein you can visibly see how huge it is as those adults stand beside the tree seems just like a size of its branch. Underneath of the Dalakit tree is where the fresh water came from.
As I keep on taking pictures on the area a group of teens came to me and humbly asked for a photograph which I didn't hesitate anyway, they even asked if I have a page so they can follow and see their photos online, I smiled and told them that its for Hive which they never heard of, but I asked their social media accounts so I could forward their photo which they happily agreed on. Here are there photos below.
The Obong Spring streams all the way to the sea and since the spring meets with seawater, during high tide there is part of the spring that is a bit warm and cold. Warm from seawater and cold from freshwater usually the warm water takes over on the lower part of the spring and the cold just over the Dalakit tree.
That's it for today, thank you for taking the time to read, and see you on the next content. Ciao!
