Two absolute musts in Penang, food and beach. Since we wanted both, bffl and I did two days in the city and two days at the beach. The first two days, we stayed at a boutique hotel, 0.7 km from the heart of the city.
Hotel Penaga from the outside, looked so-so. But when we stepped in, we were in a quaint little boutique hotel. The pool and restaurant were closed but it didn't matter because we were surrounded by food. And just a 5-minute walk took us to Chowrasta Market with plenty of good street food.
There was also a popular restaurant just across the road, and down the street. So close we could throw a stone from the entrance and hit them. The only thing is there is no hotel parking, so street at your own risk and fingers crossed you find a spot close enough. We were lucky and got the same spot, 20 metres down. We paid RM6/$1.50 per day via the local parking app. Apparently, we are covered for street parking anywhere in the city for the day.
This is what greeted us on the other side of the entrance doors. The bellhop though not dressed fancy and was even wearing slippers, was very helpful, with a big smile.
There were so many cute corners to take pictures of walking up to our room on the 3rd floor.
And at the end of our floor, there was an ironing corner. We didn't need to iron, but I guess this is where you'd do it because there weren't any provided in the room.
Our room at the end of this corridor.
The room.
Seating area on the balcony, that faced the courtyard.
The bathroom had a jacuzzi, it looked a little manky though so we didn't use it. But otherwise, it was big with a shower. Windows that you can open while in the jacuzzi or sitting on the throne.
This is the view outside the bathroom windows/balcony.
We got a room on the top floor because it was mostly booked and we wanted twin beds. The beds were on the loft.
It was really nice if you don't mind only the sleeping up and everything else below. We didn't mind.
The loft overlooks the living area below.
All the light switches were old school and I loved them.
Another table at the entrance. This was good for eating our meals in the room.
And the full-length mirror.
A quick walk around the courtyard.
There are also rooms on the courtyard level.
And this big redhead planter, we could see from our balcony and so had to take a closer look. It was taller than me :D
Me, packed and ready to leave. We had a pleasant stay, and would book this place in a heartbeat if we wanted to stay in Penang town.
