Hello friends how are you all? Hope you are very well. One of the oldest medieval temples is Dinajpur Kantji Temple located in my hometown Dinajpur. This temple was built in the medieval period by Maharaj Pran Nath, one of the Maharajas of Dinajpur. He built this temple. This temple is located in Dinajpur. There are different parts of the temple but currently most of the temple is on the way of destruction. Around 1700 ie between 1700 Maharaja built this temple and he called this temple as Shri Krishna Mantri. Every year a fair is held next to this temple.

This temple is located about 10 km from Dinajpur city. The temple is originally located in Kaharol upazila of Dinajpur city, Maharaja Prananath started the construction work of the temple but he could not finish the temple, then his son Maharaj Ramnath completed the construction of the temple and he named it Kantji Mandir. In the early 1900s, the temple was badly damaged by an earthquake. Various ruins of the temple are still there in various museums. The temple was attacked by various bandits at different times due to which the temple was almost in ruins but it was restored at home.

If you see the outer walls of the temple, it seems that they may be many years old. In fact, you are right that the walls of the temple are made of terracotta plates. When this temple was built, the architectural bricks of the temple were painted with different types of terracotta plates. It contains many fairy tale, fantasy story paintings. The terracotta works which are said to be unknown to people like Ramayana, Mahabharata and various mythological paintings are still there on the inner and outer walls of this temple.

From above, the temple looks rectangular. Several times I visited this temple especially when the fair is held next to the temple then many people from around come here to see that fair because it is one of the ancient architecture of Dinajpur people come here from different places of Bangladesh to see this temple.

The shape of the temple will surely impress you. In the front view of the temple you will see two photos that people can walk through. There are many terracotta plaques covering almost every part of the temple which have various paintings like tigers elephants horses etc.

It will be one to two months. Me and my cousin went there together. However we went there on another errand my cousin told me to come home to the temple so we both went there and visited the temple I had been here several times before. It is quite nice that many people throng here almost every year and every day. Some identify it as a picnic spot and they come here from different parts of the country to visit the temple. So this was some of my writing and my photography about this temple. Hope you all liked my post.
