When I started my life as a camper, the first place that was suggested to me was "Puerto Escondido". Why go there? What would be there? Curiosity and the desire for adventure took me to this corner of Cuba that I had not explored yet.
When we arrived the first thing we did was to set up our tent in a specific area for that, because we would spend the night and leave the next day. I could notice is the variety of options we had, my friends and I decided to try them all. The first option was to swim in the river, it was not the most pleasant, as the bottom was muddy and the water was dark colored, I could say that I was not satisfied.
The next thing we tried was to swim in a nearby beach. It was beautiful, small and intimate, had it not been for the swell, its beauty could have been better appreciated. Still, it wasn't special enough, it wasn't the unforgettable experience I was looking for, so we kept looking.
We walked along the coast, the views of the sea were beautiful, the water was so blue and clean, unlike the beaches I am used to seeing, there was no trash, everything was so natural. We arrived at a certain point where we found some young people diving from the top. The sea was rough which made it difficult to climb through the houndstooth but we still dared to jump and it was amazing, the adrenaline rush we needed, an unforgettable experience.
On our way we found a small cave hidden among the rocks and we thought it was a good
idea to go inside. The interior was beautiful, like something out of a fantasy book. But you see it by your self.
When it was time for lunch we wanted to get away from everyone and go to a quiet place, where we could enjoy our meal and nature, so we climbed up to the lookout point. A laborious ascent but ideal if you like to be among plants and trees, besides, the views from the top are worth the effort and for us eating while watching the beautiful scenery was the best reward. At the top the air was fresh and the only sound you could hear were the birds and the wind through the leaves of the trees. We stayed for a while, it felt good to be away from people.
I really had a great time, I tried new and different things, I enjoyed each and every one of the options offered and I lived that day to the fullest. Highly recommended if you want to get out of the routine and visit recreational places with your friends or family.
