Join me today as we walk around a #HISTORICAL #LANDMARK OF THE #IRON #INDUSTRY : JÄDRAÅS FOUNDRY and Lancashire forge from 1857 in Jädraås ~ Sweden. 🇸🇪
The funny thing is, I visited it last year on the SAME DAY : 11 DECEMBER 2023. Today is also the 11th of December so I thought I have to post this walk today, 😁 when I checked my photos taken with my CANON for more #interesting photos. 📸
This landmark is located in the Gävleborg County, about 3 hours drive above Stockholm.
This IRON INDUSTRIAL LANDMARK is my entry for today in this MONTH’S #WINTERCHALLENGE from @worldmappin. You can read all about it here : Winter is coming 🥶🥶🥶 - and with it the Worldmappin Winter Challenge 🥳🥳
Are you joining us too? Do try, it is FUN!
The location of the Jädraås FOUNDRY in Sweden 🇸🇪 we can find on the following screenshots from google maps:
Zooming out we see its location better.
With this post I’m also joining in at the Wednesday Walk challenge. That is hosted by @tattoodjay every week on Wednesday.

Today’s photographic selection will be of 31 PHOTOGRAPHS. Taken with my #CANON #R5 camera 📸
Date: 11 DECEMBER 2023.
I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my #adventures on this #walk, to 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 #discover everything what I saw, like the little #details seen through my eyes.
After we found a spot to park our car next to the road (it is difficult with this much snow everywhere to find spots) we dressed up warm once again 😁
🧤🧣 gloves and scarfs are definitely needed.
Let’s check out this industrial iron mill, stay close… we have lots to #discover 😎
It is located next to the road and the river…
If you look closely at the 2 windows during this walk you see #Christmas lights in them.
There is a little bridge we can walk over to look at the foundry and other industrial buildings from most angles.
I like to discover the industrial 🏭 era with all the metal and bricks 🧱 in and on the buildings. Rust and #decay gives such a interesting mood and photos 😎
As we walk further we see more of this large industrial complex. The foundry and the dark water of the river. The snow is a beautiful contrast. 🥰
Looking over the river…
We see all the trees 🌲 🌳 are white from the snow and frost ❄️🥶
I zoom in on this tall tree 🌳 the branches are heavy from the layer of snow ❄️
Walking further and looking back at the #foundry. The red of the bricks 🧱 is just showing under the snow. Making it look pink.
Opposite the foundry there is a cabin next to the river. Hidden away and almost not reachable with the meters of snow piled up.
I look up at the furnaces.
Such cool details.
More information (in Swedish) you find here: Wikipedia Jädraås bruk! if you have time… do translate it, it is very interesting to read up on 🤓
We walked to the other side of the bridge and take in the views. The river is fully covered with a thick layer of ice 🧊 and snow ❄️
Nobody walked over it… so beautiful and serene.
Crossing the bridge and looking back we see this:
I like this view and it is one of my favourite photos from today 😁
Next to me two birch trees and the vastness of the white undisturbed snow.
Let me show you the river from this angle. Come closer! let’s look over the edge a bit more!
Look at the ice build up along the river’s edge. 🥶😳
It looks AWESOME, don’t you think?
We look up at the furnaces and the top of the building on the back. So much to see 😎
A iPhone photo of the location from the cabin next to the river and across from the foundry.
I couldn’t help myself and just had to show you that white tree a bit more 😉
In #monochrome 😎
I like the looks of the dark river and it being surrounded by the white snow. ⛄️
Looking into the distance along the river 😊
To bad I was not equipped to walk along the rivers edge… I can imagine the photos I would have taken hahaha 😂
A better view of the little cabin.
Let’s walk back now towards the main building of this #factory.
I Love the #RUST 🥰
My favourite photos from from today 🤩
The #details and #texture… are awesome ☺️
Just as we hop into the car again I see this sign. I take a photo with my phone to know where we are… to show you today 😁
I found a great review on Google maps here: Review of the foundry by Staffan Söderlund! He attended a tour, check out the inside photos of this foundry by him.
In this review he shares the following 👇🏻 photo, you can read more information on the sign 🪧 (I edited and enlarged the text part of his photo for your ease to read)
Source photo taken by Staffan Söderlund!
I didn’t find this sign while I was wandering around, I guess it was on the side of the building where the snow was tooooo deep for me to go.
…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends.
Join me next time for more #updates, #adventures, #stories and #photographs 😎👋🏻
Even my own #artworks, once in a while, will come by” 🎨
Thank you so much for looking, and reading.
