Let’s explore today with me a beautiful OLD CHURCH FROM THE 13th CENTURY - MIDDLE AGES. It is located in YTTERLÄNNÄS ~ in Västernorrland County, SWEDEN. 🇸🇪 I saw images from the inside wall paintings on-line and just had to check them out for myself 😊 Will I see them?

I read on the above 👆🏻 webpage;
In 1995 the Old Church became a 'roadside church' and today it is open seven days a week for seven weeks after mid-summer, with guiding, a coffee house, a medieval workshop, music and other activities. Source!
‼️ So plan your visit well to see the inside of it 😁
Shall we have a look around this 13th century old church?
Great! Come along… here we go into the deep snow ❄️
We parked our car next to the road leading up to the church. Our view to the right:
View to the left:
In front of us we see a sign with parking, but that road and area have not been snowploughed, so we can’t park there.
As soon as we step into the snow ❄️ from the road up (the one we can’t see and is fully buried under a lot of snow) we sink in deep hahaha 🤣
Slowly we continue… on the right we find a coffee house that is of course closed in the winter.
We walk step by step through the snow to get closer to the church. It is up a hill. Nobody has been here for a while. The snow is deep and no paths are made.
On the left we see an old root cellar.

WOW LOOK AT THE ARCH AND THE ANGLED LITTLE ROOF. 🤩
As we walk under it we look up. Love the old beams! Look at the little details 😊
Under this roof structure we find this sign:
Stepping out from under the arch I look up and see the top of the old church 🥰 Beautiful!
Zooming out a bit to see the church building.
We walked a bit further through the deep snow ❄️ and I look back.
Taking in the details of the old church I see it has WOODEN GUTTERS 😳 how cool 😎
The snow gets deeper and deeper to get through… we feel the door 🚪 it is sadly CLOSED 😔 I would have loved to see the wall paintings in every colour possible. Maybe I find myself another time in this area… 🤓

As we walk back in the steps we came from, under the arch… I see the following sign 🪧
It gives us more information in Swedish 🇸🇪 and English 🏴

Looking back to the arch, gate into the churchyard.
Hubby is walking back to the car… sinking in a lot into the deep snow ⛄️
I capture the following photo, isn’t it artistic 😎 focussing on his step.
Almost back at the car we take on the views to the left.
And next to the car we see straight ahead towards the cross roads. Beautiful Swedish buildings in the distance.
