On a Friday night, my mom said out of nowhere “You’re Dad is on a business trip in Bacolod City, I think we should go surprise him there” and that’s how our unexpected roadtrip started.
We then packed our bags and prepared ourselves for a long ride. When I say long, I meant this long:
Yup. 152.23 miles to be exact.
I was the “designated driver” because dad was not around. And boy, I was so excited because I love long drives, it’s like free therapy to me hahaha.
You have to travel by ship if you wanna go to Bacolod City. The port was at least 4 hours away from our house.
4 hours?! I was shocked since we left our house at 9:45 PM and we needed to catch the 12 midnight departure. My Mom told be not to worry since there’s no traffic at night.
Then BAM! She was right because we made it to the seaport after a 3-hour-drive. I was so happy because we made it on time, safe and sound.
We parked our car on the ship and made ourselves comfortable in the passengers area. The travel time from Tabuelan Port to Escalante is 4 hours, I think that’s enough for a quick nap.
After our voyage in the sea, we were greeted by this beautiful sunrise and finally, we made it to Escalante City. We are now 67 miles away from Bacolod City. That’s like a 2 hour drive.
We made some stop overs along the way because we can’t help ourselves but take pictures of this beautiful view.
It felt like we were in new Zealand because of its super wide and green pastures. The view was so relaxing. Driving in this city was definitely therapeutic.
After a long drive, we needed to stretch our legs and decided to go for a jog/walk in Sagay City.
Take a leisurely stroll around one of Sagay City's parks and enjoy nature at its finest. Feel the cool breeze as you walk along the waterfront or take in some sunshine while admiring breathtaking views from atop nearby hillsides. With so much beauty to take in, you won't want to leave!
Well, except for us because we still have to surprise Dad. It took another 2 hours to reach Bacolod City. At this point, we were famished and luckily, we found our favorite fast food place and that is: Jollibee! If you visit Philippines, I recommend you guys to try Jollibee. I won't disclose any information of how the food tastes their. Its for you to find out hahaha.
The city's history dates back to the 16th century when it was founded by Spanish colonizers. Since then, Bacolod City has seen many changes over the centuries, from being a bustling trading port to becoming one of the most important cities in the Philippines.
Bacolod City boasts some of the best examples of colonial architecture. Its churches, monuments and other historic buildings are well-preserved and remain an integral part of its identity today.
We knew that Dad and his team went to Campuestuhan High land resort, a famous theme park in Bacolod City.
And the next thing you know…
Surprise! Mission successful! Dad was so confused when he saw us but he was very happy indeed. Seeing Dad’s reaction made our long travel more worth it.
Campuestohan High land Resort is a famous theme park in Bacolod City. It kinda has a same vibe with Universal Studios, with thrilling rides and attractions that are sure to give you an unforgettable experience. The resort is filled with lush gardens, beautiful landscapes, and exciting activities for both adults and children alike. From zip lining to bungee jumping, there's something for everyone! We also got to experience the unique culture of the locals, who were very friendly and welcoming. Our experience at Campuestohan High land Resort was truly one of a kind.
After touring around the theme park, we were on to the next destination. You can't complete your travel in Bacolod city if you did not visit the famous Ruins.
The Ruins in Bacolod City is one of the most iconic landmarks in the Philippines. It was built by Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson as a symbol of his love for his late wife, Maria Braga. This beautiful mansion is a reminder of the golden age of Bacolod City, when it was known as the “Paris of Negros”.
After a long and beautiful road trip in Bacolod City, it's time to go home. It was a great experience for my family as they were able to explore the city and take in its culture and beauty. From the historical sites, to the local cuisine, to the friendly people, Bacolod City had it all.
The trip was an overall amazing experience for everyone involved. We couldn't help but feel sad as this meant that our journey has come to an end. But with all of the wonderful experiences we had together, we knew that this would not be goodbye forever but rather until next time!
Having said that, see you guys on the next one!
