A green lung in a busy city is the "Gustavo Knoop Park" Also known as Los Coquitos... In the state of Miranda, in the city of Los Teques is one of the most beautiful botanical parks of our country... In the past, many years ago, this was the train station in the area, in fact, it still preserves rails and structures.
When my husband and I were dating, we always used to spend the afternoon here on weekends.... However, in those years the park was a bit abandoned and after a few years it closed its doors to the public.
Many were the vandals who took advantage of the space to make disasters and misdeeds, that made it an unsafe and desolate place.
In view of the good potential that was in it, many organizations took on the task of making an arduous task of recovery of the spaces.
They created artificial lagoons, favored the growth of new flora and incorporated some fauna such as turtles, fish and iguanas.
On our tour through the park, while I was taking pictures of the trees and their different textures on the trunks, as well as the beautiful flowers, we came across a boy who was doing some kind of hiking tours inside the park.
We were totally unaware of this space, as it was recently recovered and only tours are done with park rangers. In addition to hiking in it, there is also a space for picnics and spend a nice time away from the bustle of the city, where in the distance you can see buildings and the city.
Although it was not our plans to climb the mountain, the boy finally convinced us and we went up the mountain 😁....
No one would imagine that in the middle of the city there is a large forest full of sloths, squirrels, eagles, macaws, among other animals... In addition to an incredible variety of trees and small bushes.
The tour lasted approximately 15 minutes and when we reached the top of the mountain we were able to see the enchanting environment full of absolute peace...
Personally, I am a 100% lover of natural spaces, of having contact with the sun, the trees, the earth. Nothing recharges us more than being in full contact with it.
The park has the doors open to the public until 6:00 pm, inside the park you can make reservations for children's parties, it also has security at all times that monitors very often how each space inside the park is going.
If you ever visit the city of Los Teques this is a place you can not miss. We hope to return soon and recharge again with all the beautiful things that this wonderful botanical park has to offer... The coquitos.
