Two months ago, my family wanted to take a breather from our daily routine. We decided to go to a nearby beach early to feel the morning sunshine and dip in the sea.
Days prior, my husband and I were checking online for a nearby beach. He was also asking his friend for recommendations. We did not want something fancy but a simple area where we could swim and enjoy the salt water without spending too much.
After much searching, we found one in Liloan, Cebu. It is not that far. We told the girls where we were going and they were very excited. They set the alarm at 4 AM! 😀 No that excited huh? 😂 And yeah, they were super excited.
The Day at the Beach
So the day came. The children woke up early and had prepared their stuff the night before. My husband was fooling around and told them we were not going which stopped their excitement. But of course, we got ready and went to the beach.
On our way, we drove through Jollibee to buy breakfast before proceeding to the area.
We paid P300 for the cottage which is good for 4 people. We paid another P100 for the extra person since we are 5 and P50 for the parking fee. Once inside the vicinity, you can choose any vacant cottage. Since it was still early and a Monday, there were very few people around.
The place was full of tall coconut trees. The area is huge with several small cottages. Seafront Beach is an old resort. A budget-friendly one. I can see that their facilities were not well-maintained. But if your goal is to enjoy the sea, the sea breeze, and the view, it's okay. That was our primary goal when we decided to go.
It reminded me of my home province where one can just go directly to a nearby beach and not spend a penny to enjoy it. But it is different here in the city. We pay for every move. 😀 But it is okay.
We were unlucky. It was low tide. The water was just below the knee-deep at the shore. :D We need to go further to go deep. The children were quite disappointed. 😀 But, they had time to play on the sand and got some Vitamin D!
It was a time away from the screen. Away from gadgets. It was also a time when we sat by the beach and felt the wind on our faces. Felt the warmth of the sun. We also saw the sun rise in the sky.
We gave the children time to play. Look for shells and get a bit of sunburn.
Before 10 AM, we packed up and drove back home. On the way, the children were so exhausted, and below is a piece of evidence. 😀
It is always a joy for parents to see their children enjoy the things that they do. Our goal is to create lasting memories with our children. Childhood is such a short time. Make it enjoyable and memorable for them.
