The Castle of Gorzegno is located southeast of the city center of Cuneo, Itlay. It is currently a castle ruins, surrounded by weeds, with a history of Gorzegno. It has been known since the early Middle Ages and has been associated with the Maraquis Del Carretto for centuries. According to the available evidence, the castle has been destroyed, which is like a monument in the center, clearly visible from the road in the middle of the valley.
The castle was built around the 12th century, which is in line with the current area of the building and has a gatehouse and a tower as a residence. Later, the castle was expanded with additional residential areas and a main tower. The appearance of the castle is similar to a palace. It was built in 1580 as an ancient fortress of the Marquis Del Carretto, with square corner towers. Gorzegno Castle is an outstanding example of a castle with a Piedmontese fortress architecture. It will protect the territory of Del Carretto. It has been renovated many times until the end of the 16th century. Today, only the ruins remain, showing its old age but looking beautiful. I don't want to imagine how beautiful the castle was when it was still beautiful.
My trip that got to this place We searched for tourist attractions in that area by driving to this village, which is in the middle of a valley. Driving past, we saw this castle standing out. So we tried to go in and see. This village was quiet, almost no cars passed by. No one came out to walk around, probably because of the cold weather that day. We drove to see this castle up close. But the first time, we drove to the other side. We saw that there was a river flowing near this castle. The land indicated a lot of prosperity. They crossed the bridge, but it seemed that the farther away from the castle, the more they had to turn back. Until we reached the other side to drive up a small hill from the village.
The closer it got, the more beautiful it looked, but because there were only ruins left, the atmosphere around was quiet. In my opinion, at that time, it was scary. But I wanted to see it up close. We parked the car and walked up a bit. In front of it was a church nearby. We went straight to the castle. On the side, there was a wooden balcony built near the castle, like a barrier. When we walked closer, we saw a small statue placed on the table in front. Next to it is a sign with the history of this castle.
The locked wooden door was opened but we didn't go in because the castle was in ruins and we weren't sure if we could go in or not, so we didn't go in except to stand and look at the wooden balcony there. I was able to take a picture of the castle from a high angle that looked like it was ready to fall down at any moment. Around it, there were weeds and roots that were both beautiful and a little scary. It was like I was in a novel, Lol.
If you look to the left from the castle, you will see a view of the village in the middle of a beautiful green valley. This place has a natural atmosphere combined with a cool atmosphere. There was no sun that day. Since we arrived, we haven't seen a single person. But I like this atmosphere. We stood and looked at the castle, walked around the area, but didn't get too close. We took pictures and videos. It was a beautiful and memorable atmosphere.
And this is the atmosphere and photos of Corsengno Castle, a castle that still only remains in ruins because it has not been well maintained. But it still has the structure and charm of the castle's origins. Even though it may look different today, it still has a unique identity that is similar to a palace. That still attracts tourists to come and see the real things that were captured in only photos and have stories to tell.
I hope everyone likes these photos and enjoyed my posts. Thank you for following and see you next time.
🌻Have a nice day.🌻
